Anyone ever do or hear of a Dodge V-8 engine swap into a 'Cruiser?

I'm not much of a Chevy guy, had hotrod Mopars all my adult life. I have 3 360's lying around, and I was wondering if anyone had ever done it. Considering a 360/NV4500 combo with the 3-speed case, since Advance Adapters has the kit to make the 4500 and T-case get along. Anyone?? :meh:

I think you answer most of your own questions...tansmision - tranfercase adapter are the biggest stumbling block. Sound like you have a conbination with the NV4500 that will work. Go for it!

When I bought mine it had a 360 in it. I believe it was a AMC jeep eng. IT was a poor conversion with crappy motor mounts. if facT I put a eng hoist on it AND THE WELDS JUST BROKE OFF THE FRAME. It was put in at a angle because it had a dana 20 transfercase that didn't line up with the qaud track OEM axle. It was junk. Im sure it could be nice if done right. BUTT!!!!

IF YOU BREAK DOWN ANYWHERE IN AMERICA WITH A CHEVY 350 IN YOUR RIG, IT CAN BE REBUILT IN THE PARKING LOT OF ANY AUTOPARTS STORE. THE CHEVY 350 IS THE SH _ T FOR THAT REASON ALONE. MOST AUTOPARTS HAVE COMPLETE LONG BLOCKS IN STOCK. MOPAR MEANS MORE HOURS B-4 YOU CAN GET PARTS. BUT THEY ARE BAD AZZ

The 4.7 has already been done. ;-)

I think that the 360 is a good idea if you are a mopar guy and have parts and engines laying around. I do agree that 350 are more plentiful, but if you are more comfortable with a mopar motor, go for it!

Ryan

I have a better Idea how about an I force out of a Tundra or a 4.7 out of a newer Landcruiser.

Thanks Bob.

Thanks everyone for the input. It is much appreciated!

Bob, I would love to go with the V-8 Toyota running gear if a standard 5-speed transmission was easy to get for it. That may be easy for our Australian buds, but here in Albuquerque, USA they are a bit scarce. That, and I did not race Toyotas for years (like I did Mopars), so I don't have the inventory.

I agree that Chebbys are more plentiful and an easier swap. I just never was that smart.

Maybe I'll spend the Holidays at U-Pull It looking for a 4500.......... :hillbilly:

Ask scott where the starter is located on that 4.7 toyota. Less is more the 360 is user friendly but there is a reason why all the guys are running sbc on the show pinks all out. It works and its strong as walnut shells.

I think the dodge 360 is the best gas motor ever made. I had a 73 with 280k on it. No work was ever done to it. Granted, it was a j head, but still; 280k- no work done.

I have the 5.9 in my durango, and it lights like a rocket. I've actually had somebody ask me if I had a turbo.

Do it. Take pics.
