if you're referring to the gubment, then you've no clue... they ain't even close to controlling this new era... reckon why wikileaks founder is no longer in jail? i realize we don't need to be discussing this... because when you really stop to think about it, it's scary... we've never negotiated with terrorist activity, but the the community that supported him, took down the internet (not the play internets that we use, but the banking, government, and all else associated) until he was released... he was released to a castle under house arrest, but released none-the-less... scary scary stuff. Scares me ALOT more than what's happening in Egypt in my opinion.
Eric, there's a guy in our local group who's a software engineer for a "major internet company." I won't name him, but he's studied Facebook from an insider perspective and thinks they're the debil. Apparently they can access the data they collect, unlike Google. But then what do I know? I can barely figure out how to access e-mail.
They can access it now because they haven't collected as much as google has. it's been said an not jokingly "One nation under Google".
China, don't even get me started.... when it was realized in early 2010 that china was behind that day when google, FB, twitter went down, and the reason those particular sites were affected is because those are the sights blocked by China's government firewall... that was more significant than just knowing that China can redirected all the core DNS servers... but it's now pretty much gauranteed that day they showed their hand that they too are recording every detail of the DNS traffic like google and FB are.
China denied it for weeks... then admitted it was an "accident"... whew. How do you route EVERY DNS request in the world to your network?! I mean, it's easy to do, but how can you do it. "mind esplode".
