Anybody here sell their sports car to get Land cruiser or LX 570?

Traded a 2018 Shelby GT350 for my LC. I'm 62 and found the Shelby was really nice and fast, but always drove my F250. Had the Gt350 for 1-1/2 yrs and only put 2000 miles. It was time to get something I'd drive. I love my LC. My F250 now sits...

Don't get me wrong, the S65 is probably one of the last engines of its kind, a naturally aspirated 4.0L V8 that redlines at 8250 and puts out over 100hp/ liter without forced induction. I truly miss the sound it made above 7k. I also miss the S54 in the E46 M3 that I had. I tracked both cars and had a lot of fun doing it but bouncing over rocks on the Rubicon, dodging trees on Dusy Ershim, or blasting down miles of high speed washboard in rural Nevada are just more fun at the moment...hence my LC addiction. When I eventually get back into sportscars, it will be in a GT3.

I do find it interesting that many LC owners also have owned M3/4/5/6 BMWs.

similar goals here!!! currently in a 2012 E92M3- 6MT. hoping for a 991.2 GT3 or 992 GT3 someday..... tried getting one last year, but the "market adjustment" on new ones OR even one year used (essentially speculator purchases) was horrendous!! I just can't justify paying over sticker for anything really, no matter how much I want it. i am hoping that the 992 GT3 is stellar which should reduce prices on used 991.2s in a couple of years.

I think LC owners come from a similar place as niche car owners. LC i believe is also a niche vehicle, essentially last of its kind in a way. similar transition point to forced induction that BMW went with M3/4 a few years ago. also, similar heritage behind it in its class.

These are good times!!! best of generations prior!!!

Anybody here sell their sports car to get a Land cruiser or LX 570? I currently have a 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1. I am seriously considering this selling it for Land cruiser or LX 570. I know they are two different worlds. As crazy as this might sound, I know there must be some of you that made the move. Was hoping you could share your experience and if you miss it still.

For the longest time, I thought I would never sell my car. However, if I am going to, it would be either for Land cruiser or LX 570. Before getting my Camaro ZL1 three years ago, I had a tough decision between these three vehicles. I definitely had my fun with the car and enjoyed every moment. However, I know the wife would enjoy one of these SUVs much more.

thats a tough call!!! depends on the sports car and how attached you are to it and the kind of work you have put into it .. but that's just me. IF I am only allowed one vehicle, then maybe the LC would take priority for family reasons and also its probably cheaper to mod the LC than to sort out a sports car for track. but like someone else said , an LC + a sports car of your choice is really the sweet spot!!

How did you like the Shelby GT-350? My brother just bought a new one.

Try driving a 911. Everybody in a Honda or a minivan thinks they are auditioning for Fast and Furious at every stoplight. Lol
I thought this was just me. Doesn't help that mine is loud too....

To the original question, I kept my sports car and got the LC200. If it came down to it, I'd sell my LC200 before I let my 993 go. I love the land cruiser to death and its a fantastic car but nothing beats a classic air cooled 911 in my opinion (even though most new hondas and camrys are likely faster).

Used to driver this before my LX. Not sure if you can call it a "sports car", but hey even then I was craving going "off-road". LOL 😅

Loved the GT350. It has a NA 5.2 flat plane motor that redlines at 8250 and makes 526 HP. A wonderful noise. Not as fast as the other American turbo sports / muscle cars, but a really nice handling car. Someday, I will find a well kept 2013-2015 991 GTS with the NA 3.8 for my next sports car. It will sit most of the time, but something I'll keep for the occasional short trips or Saturday drives.

If I had to choose just one I’d vote land cruiser. If Off roading and getting out in nature is your thing the land cruiser is king. I am enjoying every minute of it with the family. My sports car is a 2002 Z06, I have no intentions of getting rid of it as it was my dream car as a kid. I will admit that I am having way more fun pushing the land cruiser to its limits then I am flogging the z06. Too easy and tempting to do stupid s$&t and end up with tickets lol. Having a family changed my perspective and the Z06 primarily spends its time on a battery tender in the garage.

Yup. a '16 M4 heavily tuned to just over 525HP was my daily but the 200lb English Mastiff rescue didn't fit, so I bought a second vehicle for him (an '06 Range Rover HSE) and then got rid of both when I picked up the LC. I miss track days and the sound of that exhaust on start-up in cold weather. Such an amazing vehicle, but I wouldn't trade the LC to go back. Would love to have a GT3 in addition to the LC, but not in the budget after spending $100k on an MBA over the last couple of years.

The cold start on any M-car sends chills down your spine. I agree, if I could only have 1 vehicle, it would be the Landcruiser, without a doubt....and if I could only have 1 Landcruiser, it would hands down be the 200. Its the total package.

@kcruiser200 said it well. Landcruisers, like most other vehicles mentioned in this thread are high quality, low volume, over engineered niche cars that only a certain type of person can truly appreciate.

To the OP, the overwhelming consensus of this thread is.....BUY a 200! You may miss your Camero, but you will open up the door to many other adventures in the 200. Not one person said they wish they hadn't purchased their LC.

I guess I need to get my wife to talk to you. she is crazy attached to her LR4!!! lol!!!

Yes. I had an immaculate E55 AMG Benz that I sold. Not necessarily to buy the Land Cruiser, but I was tired of the stress that comes from driving a pristine car. I bought an imperfect LC. No stress when driving it.

My 2014 535i XDrive M Sport was paid for and truly a great car. Unfortunately it spent most of it's time in a garage while I drove my little Honda Civic everywhere and used it as a work commuter. I sold both privately in literally 2 days to help fund the LC which was a private sell. Now I drive it everywhere and I don't miss having a fancy shinny sporty car that I always feel the need to keep clean. I miss it sometimes but German cars depreciate as fast as they drive. Hopefully the LC will hold it's value. I desired a practical and reliable vehicle that I wanted to keep in the family for many years to come. I love driving up to curbs in parking lots now and not worrying if I am going to rip my carbon fiber splitter off and destroy the bumper!

Do you have kids? Keep the ZL1 until that time and then get the LC/LX.

Or get both if possible. Love my LC but can’t beat the low end torque feel of a LSX small block. And def can’t beat the sound of a Chevy with blower whine.
