Any lights or warnings if you unplug the radar?

I ordered a metal replacement grille from Kelly at landcruisergrilles.com, and it doesn't support the radar or front camera. I don't use either of them, so no loss there.

I'd rather remove the radar sending unit from in front of the radiator. Are there any downsides, idiot lights or warnings that will pop up if I unplug it?

Yes, I can just unplug it and try it out (and I will soon), but I figured someone else might have tried it already and could share.

If not, I'll report back after I try it out.

Thanks!

I'll predict that you'll get a persistent message "PCS DISABLED" and a blinking light in the cluster. I've had it happen several times when driving through a snowstorm.

I left mine unplugged for a week or so, no issues, sorry that was the camera in the grill. Disregard :p

619TOY, same here. I've had the camera unplugged for weeks (lots of dual battery wiring work - made it easier to quickly pop off the grille). No warning for that on my '13.

KLF, I've had that with snow too. Hoping that unplugging it doesn't trigger it.

PCS is pretty nice, idk why you would remove that just for a grille. Have you ever had it activate in a close call? Radar cruise is pretty great too imo. Definitely has flaws but allows you to enjoy the scenery a bit on long drives without coming up on anyone too quickly.

Useless bling. I'm one of the jerks that would rather have a 70 series.

PCS is definitely not useless lol. 70 series is cool but advanced safety features are pretty cool too. That is probably because I have 2 little girls. If it was just me I might think differently. Either way I expect you will have PCS warning light, but hopefully you can just find a fuse to pull.

I remember when way back when technical discussions on 'mud stuck to the technical topic at hand. Or maybe that is old age and wishful thinking. :)

Cool story old man, I guess when you get old safety is less of a concern since you dont have long anyway. Enjoy your grille.

As KLF suspected, PCS warnings in the dash.

would you be able to disable with techstream or put a some sort of resistor on the end of the wire like how some have done with removing 2nd row seats to keep the airbag light off?

Good idea! I'm not very knowledgable with electronics, but that sounds plausible. For now, I plugged it back in. I'll have to see how it reacts with the steel grille once it is installed. Who knows, maybe it will be fine?

Not surprising. Being a safety system I would expect some form of warning if it wasn't working properly.

Says the guy that brought his 20 year old truck into the discussion.
Huh? This is a thread that I created, and have been following up on. My truck isn't 20 years old - it is a 2013.

I posted looking for information of a technical nature as a part of making a modification.

Back to your regularly scheduled heritage badge, paint color, bumper and tire threads...

My apologies Charlie In my dotage I thought you said that you had a 70. I guess I should read the thread before I post. Sorry about my cranky barb. Gord
I remember when I didn’t act like a jerk on the inter web.

No worries. We're all doing our best. No hard feelings.

My reference to the 70 series is to a model that is more simple, and is available today, new, in many countries around the world.
