I am laying out my plans for a stereo upgrade and need to know what size speakers and where they are located. so far, I've noticed the lower door speakers in all 4 doors and then it looks like 2 up top in the rear and 1 on the passenger side. I thought there was a sub somewhere?

thnx for any info/diagrams.

If the '97 is like my '94 you've got one in each door as you've noted and two up top in the rear.

You should have one on each side in the dash down near where the front door speakers are.

The sub is hidden behind the PS rear quarterpanel.

9 total.

Lots of info in the Electronics section of the board on speaker/head unit upgrades.

Read up on some speaker threads because you can up-size what is currently in the doors. I believe you can fit a shallow 6" in the front doors and a shallow 5 1/4" in the rear doors. The key is that they are shallow in depth so they don't hit the windows when you roll them down.

P.S. The little speakers up in the ceiling are only accessible by dropping the head liner. That speaker cover is rivited in. And while you have the head liner dropped I recommend adding a third dome light.

Here are a couple threads of what I did:
Wish I would have gone with larger than 4" speakers in the rear doors.
