What Mikie said. My 1985 is a great expo rig.

Here is my truck.

Bed platform inside with a fridge and drawers underneath to store our stuff. Homemade bumper on the back with a table and some water and fuel storage and a table.

Homebuilt dust precleaner and sliders and a TJM front bumper with a Warn winch. Re-geared and locked front and rear.
I like it how it is. Just small changes to try and lighten it up a bit over the last couple years.

That silver Tacoma in the back ground looks familiar. Do you have any pics of your table setup on your swing out?

Here you go ~ Enjoy!

Toadyota's - expedition 4runner

Here's a pic of my 85' that I've had for 10yrs now. I find that I do a lot of pavement driving to get to anything offroad so my rig has to work on both equally well. So to keep gas expense down I limit how much weight and wind catching stuff as possible. A 2inch lift, 31 BFG's, Snorkel, aluminum DIY roof rack, budbuilt cross member, ARB front bumper, portable air, CB and good stereo tunes. I removed the back seats, on one side built in steel lock box and the other is a plywood extension for 6+ feet of sleeping room inside with tailgate closed. I have a DIY rear bumper with adapters for an awning off the rear so that I can cook on the tailgate in the rain and move the truck if needed without having to take down the awning and I was able to gain quite a bit of ground clearance. No lockers but I find I can go many places with proper wheel placement, been through Utah, Oregon, Nevada and California on multi week trips. I spend most of my time in the desert. I'll try to get more pics with details. My best investment so far has been a propane/battery powered hot shower!
Deer Valley 4x4 Trail camp 081 - for email.webp

Back when this picture was taken he'd brought it down to ToyotaConnection in SantaClara where we all got the chance to drool over it before it went back into the container. I still wish I'd gotten pics of the j-arm setup he had..anyone having his (their) contact info please pm it to me or if there's pics of it somewhere post them up? My German sucks and I don't see a link on the sadtler page. :D

Toad - more pics please! I'd love to see how your roof rack is attached and how on earth that jerry can is hanging on the side.

LaOutbackTrail has a nice 1stGen 4runner:
1987 4Runner- Expedition Build Up..

The '89 4runner I had thru college is still at the top of my favorite truck list

By the way: LOVE the orange 4runner at the beginning of the thread! Sweet color!
