Looks great. Post up some finished pics when you get it painted and the tire carrier on.

x 2!

I hope the guy in the first pic was/is not your dad, or I'm gonna feel like an old fart! ;)

Keep up the good work!

I think I see the spacers now in this pic, the rear panels holes for the tow points are not spaced properly for the 62 frame, lucky it was in the right direction so that it can be corrected with spacers I guess!

Thanks for the insight.

Also, I really like your use of the rear crossmember as a anchor point for the receiver, nice work.

Yeah that's probably the best angle of them you are gonna find right now (cuz im not taking it off again haha).

Thanks for the compliments on the receiver. I just didn't wanna chop any parts of the frame and all I really had to do was drill out some factory holes to 1/2" and it went real well.

Thread revival:

So like everything on this project, it takes time. I've had the arms fabbed up for a while, it's just taken a long time to actually get it finished (adjusting for gas cans, hi-lift, etc). The good news however, I am almost completely done.

Might be going home (to Lakewood) over the weekend to finish it up and ill try to remember pics.

AK you ever finish yours?

Funny you should post this, I was just thinking about starting on the swingouts. Definitely post some pics of your work with a parts list (I'm lazy) ;-)

P.S> Where did you get your spindles? What size/ height are they?

THanks

I looked at both of those and it looks like I'd be over $200 easy with shipping. Would this kit work Tire Carrier Spindle Assembly [IPOR-14118] - $48.75 : Iron Pig Off Road, Toyota 4WD experts

Sorry if the link doesn't work, I'm posting from my phone. It's IPOR's spindle kit. I know it doesn't use bearings, but really bushings should be sufficient for a swingout shouldn't they? It's also way cheaper than most spindle kits. Let me know what y'all think.

The thing that steered me away from the IPOR one, is that it's 1.5" diam, whereas (if memory serves right) the hole for the spindles on the bumper is 1.75"

Just thought I would move my comments to this thread, I added spacers in the same fashion that Shotgun did, I also fabricated a hitch in a similiar fashion (although I mounted it lower in order to clear my Destaco clamps).

As soon as I am at a computer that will allow me to download my photos I will bother all of you with them.

I'm about 90% finished with this now. I have the tire carrier finished and the swingarm for the gas cans is done I just need to build the basket to contain them.

Cool bit about when I was relocating the license plate, I saw the original dealer plate which is at least 22 years old now.

Hey Shotgun-what size tube did you use for the swingouts? Is that 1.5" 11ga? Also what did you decide on the spindles & tubes? Sorry for all the questions, hoping to start my kit soon...

^ Hey what kind of welder did you use on your kit?
