So i ran across sale and i'm thinking this is a good deal for what components this rig has. I've always wanted to build my own from the ground up, but this has almost everything i would put on a rig, so i am thinking about going for it.

1985 toyota 4runner 22re
Marlin Crawler 4" lift
Marlin Crawler crossover steering
Bilstein shocks
New steering box
Sky manufacturing shock hoop
Trussed and braced front axle housing
All new seals and bearings in both axles
Longfield front axle, birfs, and hub gears (lifetime warranty on all)
New 35" BFG mud terrain tires with a full spare
Custom backspaced rims powdercoated black
5.29 gears installed by Zuk
Aussie front and rear lockers
new water pump, AIV valve (?), and cold start injector
Thinks the engine was rebuilt 30K ago
No Leaks

Pictures make the body look perfect. Funny thing is that he hasn't wheeled it at all. Also says he gets 20 mpg. is that normal for 35's and 5.29? Lastly, says the only thing it needs is new front and rear driveshafts.

He's asking $6000 for it.

6k is a little steep. does he have the papers for the rebuilt motor? why does it need drive shafts, twisted? does he have the paper work? how many miles on it? rust? dont know about the 20mpgs thing thats kinda hard to swallow with 35's

just my .02

Pics please, if nothing more than there's been a rash of thefts in the Santa Cruz area. Don't discuss other than you want to see a good pic of it, then post it here.

the rig is located in phoenix, and has been in arizona for all its life, so i'm guessing there is little to no rust. don't know why it needs new driveshafts, the guy says he has never wheeled it at all. 218K on the chassis. i'll email him some more on why its needs new driveshafts, and if he has receipts. ad says he has 8K in receipts on just the parts.

If they are stock driveshafts, then there's no room in them for the axle to drop with the lift it has... they will come apart... That's why he hasn't wheeled it, and why it needs DS's.... Or would be my guess...

If it has a clean interior, and a clean bill of health on the drive train... I'd say 6k isn't too much... That's a long list of mods.... Just make sure everything's done right. And try to talk him down some.... :D

I would say it needs shafts because he has a Marlin case and he nver got around to getting them done.

In this economy, I would try and talk him down. It's a nice build, but its really 85% "finished", assuming the interior has everything and isn't just trashed. You still need to either make or buy, front and rear bumpers, sliders and driveshafts? right?

That's $1k worth of work right there.

If he had armor and the driveshafts were good, $5800 would be fair.

My 85 got 18-21mpg with 35's, getting 18-20 with the 33's on it now.

Offer him 4500-5000 for it. Its going to need body armor and drive shafts, that will set you back a little more.
