Note:
A thin shaving of the 79*s cv upper end will allow you to use this cv with your 80's drive flange. Suspect you'd have to shave, file or field beat the 105 upper as well. This is the portion outbound of snap ring.

Who is actually breaking hubs or drive flanges.
my rig is a dedicated wheeler on 39s I have yet to break a hub or a drive flange.
I purposely left the stock drive flange as a fuse.

Studs for sure. I doubt anyone has ever broken a hub. It also seems difficult to break or strip the splines in a drive flange. Seems like the studs would go long before that happens.

Now that you've said it, you shall break it.
In snow with chains my original 81 blew the flange clean off.
Mind you the chain did catch a buried root so eventually you will break something.
Luckily for me I could access Cruiser parts via our underground supplier, and don't mind experimenting with parts that cross fit across the various series platforms.

Ya whatever.
If you notice, I said have yet to.
Spares are never far off, I carry in my trailer spare front & rear hubs with clean grease bearing & seals installed, spare spindle and right side knuckle, spare drive flanges, full set of drive flange bolts nots cones & washer, full knuckle bolt set, spare axles & drive shaft f&r and more you get the idea.
Tow Rig and trailer are always at the trail head, worst case is one of my Buddies drives back for parts.
Small stuff I keep on board.
I you build a Rig to wheel like I do, you plan for the Inevitable.
wheel on Cheers 😉
