I guess I should look at a snorkel LOL
That was a strange weekend. There had been like 3 days of nonstop rain and several of the small creeks that we had planned to cross were no longer small. 😊
It seems that Cruiser guys just can’t resist water. 😊

Just cancelled my reservation at Windrock for Yurt 5...should be available - have fun!

(I can't go see post #91)

Sorry you can’t make it. 😊

Just a reminder, unlike some events, we DO NOT require a vehicle inspection prior to heading off onto the trails. Therefore it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY” to make sure your Land Cruiser is up to the task. However if something unexpectedly happens we won’t leave you stranded. 😊

Dug up an old photo from our first 70 Series event. It’s grown a tad since then. 😊

I’ve gotten several emails asking about trail communications.

First and foremost, cellular coverage inside of the park is basically non-existent so cellphones are NOT a reliable option.
Both HAM and GMRS have proven reliable on the trails although neither are required. At a minimum, we plan to have communications in the front, middle and rear of each lineup in case there are issues.

Charles,
Some of your recent posts appear to building towards a reminder on the basic need for preparation.

  • You have trail communication checked.
  • Vehicle maintenance ... make sure that your 70 is in good mechanical and electrical condition before hitting the trails. A break down on the trail can take all fun out.
  • Vehicle protection ... check your skid plates and recovery points because they may be needed. If you want to explore and experience green-or-blue rated trails, uprated steel bumpers (front & rear) and sliders to protect your rocker sills are a serious consideration. Body damage that could have been avoided is an unpleasant regret to take home from the trip.

There is still ample time to check these boxes too.

Historically we’ve had folks attend our event that may not have ever even engaged 4 wheel drive on their Land Cruisers while other attendees have extensive off-road experience. Our goal is the cater to both groups. We don’t won’t to foster the idea that if you don’t have sliders and skid plates you shouldn’t come. 😁

This window decal was designed for last year’s 70 Series Meet & Greet which unfortunately was cancelled due to Covid.
Thanks to @4runnermods the decal will be updated for this year‘s event and will be available for those that attend. 😊 9/16-19/2021

Although our focus is the 70 Series, we roll out the red carpet for our older relatives. 😊

Are dogs welcome at this event? What about at the camp ground?

We’ve had a number of folks bring dogs so I would say yes but to play it safe I would call the campground at
865-435-1251.

Although we do not charge anything to attend the event (no tickets to be purchased), Windrock does require a daily permit. Historically the permits would have only been available at the park store but it’s my understanding that they can now be purchased online. The park does have random checks for permits and there is a ZERO tolerance for alcohol on the trails. You may be checked leaving the parking lot (white Nissan in photo) or randomly checked on the trails.

Is the permit, per person or per vehicle?

got it

In the past we’ve had very few LJ’s and no KZ‘s attend our event so if you own one here’s your chance to “strut your stuff“. 😁
