If you encounter a delay to your schedule that causes a miss this weekend, GSMTR runs 14-20June so the Cruisers start gathering next Sunday and won't depart until Father's day. i.e., A temporary setback would yield a great opportunity.
The weather in oliver springs was pretty nasty all weekend so the trip was pushed to next weekend, so i guess i will be able to join. Registration for the event is closed but hopefully i can still ride along on some of the guides.

Online registration is closed. Registration on-site is open; but in past years, t-shirts were not available with on-site registration.
See you here.

FYI Current weather forecasts, show no rain until Sunday (for what that is worth) but with day-time temp highs dropping back to the upper 80s. Today, it was noticiably moderate compared to yesterday or Sunday highs.

You bringing the 70 this year, I'm bringing the 73 this year instead of the lx .

I wish. The 70 is in the shop waiting on parts to come in.
Brought the '95 FZJ as the replacement. Good truck and does well on the trails, but I prefer the 70 so I am looking forward to getting the parts in and her back on the road/trail.

The ~5 acres adjacent to the event pavilion is available for camping. It is included in registration. Over 160 trucks were pre-registered, but only a fraction have arrived so far (with many of those in the cabins). In short, there is camping space so come an claim your spot.

Enjoy your test trip to Windrock in your 70 series
[ensuring that you / your 70 / your gear will be prep'd and ready for the Sept Meet-n-Greet]

Its probably hard to believe but the truck started over heating this morning. Went into a waffle house to order some food came out and it was sitting at 235 cooled it off started driving ran fine for a little while until i hit traffic shot up to 240 real quick let it cool off drove to the nearest orileys got an electric fan washed out the radiator hoping it dies the trick, ran fine for about 30 miles let it cool off drove it to the nearest truck stop took out the thermostat bleed the coolant. Drove fine for about 40 miles then all the sudden shot up again. My guess is its the fan clutch but if it was it shouldnt heat up that quickly at high speeds.it spits out all the coolant into the over flow tank
Took me all day to do 150 miles. Currently on 25w 20 mils from windrock.
Appreciate any advice.
Did 12 hours yesterday ran smooth whole way.

I would suggest moving your post out of this section and placing it in the “tech” section. Perhaps label your post as “help needed”. I believe far more people will respond if it’s placed there.
Good luck ….

Missed communication. I had the event leadership and the mechanics from ACC shop primed/ready to provide advice and aid, but you left without talking to anyone.

I guess I should have been rude and woken you up Saturday morning... I stopped by your tent around 8AM and you were not out prep'ing for the day, so did not approach. Regrettably, I was tagged to lead a 9AM trail ride so I left camp before you emerged which is I had other primed and ready to be of aid. Later we saw your truck headed up P1 but you did not notice me when I stopped and waved; you drove past without slowing.

I hope your situation has improved.

Annual 70 Series Meet & Greet - Save the Date - September 16-19, 2021

I had reserved yurt 5 (check in 9-16-2021, check out 9-20-2021) at Windrock....Dang....My niece is celebrating her wedding in MA that same weekend so I need to opt out. I will be contacting the camp ground in a week or so to drop my reservation....If there is an easy way to transfer the reservation to keep it in the 70 series "family" I can try to do that.....

EDIT - just cancelled my reservation (7-3-2021)

Alternate Plan: Bring your niece to Windrock. What could make a better memory than having a wedding photo surrounded by 70 Series Land Cruisers. We’ll throw rice or whatever she wants. 😊

Update,

It turned out to be the fan clutch. For anyone having over heating issues let your fan clutch cool down overnight and bleed for air in the morning see if that makes a difference before you start factoring out other components. I could have gone without taking the thermostat out but it did help drastically by keeping the temps down.

From my observations huge air bubbles in the system can prevent the fan clutch from working properly.

On sunday the truck ran great all day did some trails at Windrock went out to Nemos tunnel. on the way back we stopped at a walgreens got some stuff and let the truck cool off. When i started it back up the Digital Gauge ( digital gauge sender is mounted in the return hose) was showing a much lower temp than the OEM gauge, it was alarming but i put it off to bad digital reading. Shortly after leaving the walgreens the Oem gauge shot way up but the digital gauge dropped and the fan was not kicking on. I pulled over right away opened the hood and felt the hoses, the upper return hose felt like it was going to explode. That's when i realized why the two gauges were showing different temps. There was a massive bubble in the upper hose which is why the coolant was not circulating past the Digital sender so it could not give me a correct coolant temp reading. This is also when i theorized that air in the system could prevent the fan from turning on. I let things cool of, bleed the system for air started her up and drove off. The fan came on at 176F and stayed below 190F whole way back to camp.

While we’re on the subject of cabins and camping, I want to once again remind those attending that the 16th (Thursday) and the 19th Sunday are considered travel days while the 17th and 18th (Friday & Saturday) are “event days”.
Historically the bulk of those attending arrive Thursday afternoon or evening while others that travel less distance, will show up Friday morning. Some, myself included, normally hit the road Sunday morning for the trip home. In a nut shell you are free to come and go as you please over the weekend. 😁
Hope to see you there.

Bumping this. I have a cabin Thursday through Sunday. If anyone wants to share. There are no more cabins for that time range.

We eat lunch in some of the finest venues. 😁

Unless there are some last minute cancellations there will be no cabins available so sharing may be the best option for those that don’t plan to camp and yet prefer to be close by. 😊
