If you have not taken time to look through @theglobb photo link you owe it to yourself to do so. The photography is second to none and features virtually everyone’s Cruiser. 👍
Glad I had a Co-Driver so I was able to take the photos whenever stuff got a bit dicey and clogged up. I appreciate all the kind words from everyone!

We’ve come a long ways since the first “Meet & Greet” in Cullman, AL. 😊

Nice. I see my ragtop.

We need you to make it to the next one!

He attended in spirit, ... but directly in parts and tech support.
Many of the trucks that attended made it due to Onur finding that rare / impossible-to-find part that got the truck back onto the road & trail.

Although we probably had a greater variety of 70 Series, representing more world-wide markets, attend this year, we only had one MWB and one Troopy in the lineup which may be a record.

Would have been two MWB if I was able to join!
It will once again be planned for the second half of September of 2022. 😊

That could possibly interfere with “Cruisers On The Rocks”.

What a hoot!

I thought you made it as a joke (i.e., a verbal stiff arm of sorts), but I did a search on it. It was real in 2019, 2020 and full up for 2021 (looks like I won't be allowed to celebrate my b-day with them).

Per the website, it looks like Lee is very involved. The primary focus is 100 & 200 series Cruisers to the event.
Further more, I am in a picture standing on John's slider from the final small rock garden on trail 22 from this past weekend.
I am pictured on the website of an event that I didn't know existed. That has to be a flashing sign about how obtuse I am!

I have a strong feeling that Lee would not object to 70 series trucks being in the Windrock area while the 100 and 200 series. The park is big so there should be enough for to play nice and even share.

There are a number of “moving parts” that have to be considered when picking a weekend. First and foremost, what’s convenient for Peter and Sam. Secondly, it’s getting more challenging each year to find a date that doesn’t interfere with other major events that are scheduled for Windrock.** It’s not so much a matter of sharing room on the mountain as it is cabin / camp ground availability. Peter, Sam and I will talk next Spring to see what works best for the event. 👍

** Although I doubt it affected our turnout, Logan’s Run in NC was scheduled for the same weekend this year.

Well aware. If the 70 Series Meet-n-Greet or Cruisers on the Rocks were TLCA events (sanctioned or unsanctioned), the scheduling parameters expands from local to regional & national.
As you identified, avoiding a schedule conflict between Logan's Run & the 70 Series if you a TLCA event and trying to integrate with other TLCA events. Scheduling is further complicated because your consideration would expand beyond simple same-day scheduling conflict; you would consider event schedules several weeks on either side of your target dates.
Since your target audience (participates) is 70 Series trucks/owners from the eastern and central states, you would select a date that provides separation from other events that 70 series trucks are attending in the region (ex., Fall Crawl, Logan's Run, Southern Cruiser Crawl, ...) so that you provide consideration to logistics of participants (in your target audience and wider as you can accommodate). [i.e, most people can't take off consecutive weekends (yard work, vehicle maintenance, family maintenance, ...), travel logistics (ex., Fl home to Tn event to Fl home to Ar event to Fl home to NH event to Fl home), ...]

Yes, lots of moving parts but not insurmountable when the objective is to be inclusive in the Cruiser community (participants, events, chapters organizing events) with a successful 70 Series Meet-n-Greet.
Good luck

It could be due to the simple fact that more and more 70 Series are being imported each year but are event numbers continue to grow which is ultimately the goal. To my knowledge, our event is the only one in the eastern half of the U.S. that is directed solely towards the 70 Series (although we welcome any Land Cruiser owner). As I see it, our immediate goal is to have more people with Windrock knowledge volunteer to guide. In my opinion groups of 5-7 would be ideal on the trails. A lot of details to be worked out between now and next Fall. 😊

Yes, it is "fun" trying to fit events into your schedule.

First, there are your local club runs like Coal Mine Cruiser Classic and the Fall Gathering. Then we get into more specific vehicle events like the Pig Party and 70 Series Meet & Greet.

Oh, the aggravation of owning several Land Cruisers :)

Win some / loose some.

Regardless, we make what we can, sometimes life gets in the way.

Having organized some events in the past, I appreciate the work all event organizers have to content with.

Again, thank you all for all the work going into the 70 series M&G and the great time that resulted in the event.

Due to the popularity of Cruiser events, which is a good thing, it’s nearly impossible to pick a weekend that doesn’t in some way interfere with other events. Historically, late September was one of those dates that didn’t interfere with other east coast events but that changed this year. (Logan’s Run in this case). With that in mind we simply have to pick a date that is satisfactory for both Sam and Peter and let the chips fall where they may. We also need to set the date fairly early in the year so we have the ability to book cabins so we have somewhere to host the Saturday evening meal (aka “The Big Shin-dig” )

Again, a lot of moving parts. 😊

We are in the process of sending an article to the TLCA (Toyota Trails) that documents our little adventure. If and when it is published I will let everyone know. 😊
