Man, the dual remote oil filter system seems like total overkill to me...$400+custom install all to "improve filtration" and make it "easier" or less frequent to change? :meh:

I know everyone that uses Amsoil loves their products (whether warranted or not), but why not just use Mobil 1 synthetic and oil filter magnets? (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hlp-001336)

Extended oil change frequency and added filtration protection with much less cost or hassle!

Since everything else on the Landcruiser is already an "overkill" ..... I went this route

The beauty of IH8MUD, is that you get to see many options on how to address different scenarios....

Yup, got to agree about that.....
The 1fz has zero need for extra filtration. It is a fun, fiddly project, but will net zero motor life benefit. Check this result, almost twice the miles, dino oil, stock filter and the same test result:

Maybe in your neck of the woods and snake eater, who lives in Florida (Another warm and mild climate...temp wise). But, I think that even though the bypass may be considered overkill, IMHO I'm convinced that in colder climates, extra filtration in addition to the high quality synthetic oil (Amsoil Signature Series specifically) will net better results in the long run.

I change my wife and my oil every 3 months I get a discount and purchase my filters by the 1/2 dozen and buy a couple of cases of oil at a time.

Wow, a new wife every three months. Thats gotta be a lot more expensive than this mod. :)

Typed using my thumbs.

1yr 14,261 Milles

Time for my annual Amsoil change:steer:

New Full Flow filter

New ByPass Filter

10.5 Quarts of Signature Series 5W30 synthetic

Oil Analysis sample collected and sent off to "Oil Analyzers Laboratory"

Report

Finally received the updated report….. very good for 190,015 miles

I spoke with Amsoil and all numbers are in line. Wear numbers are very good. The flagged numbers are no need for concern.

So 15k and no problem or was it 19k?

KOH?? King of the Hammers? ;)

The truck has a total of 190K on it. The oil had 14K on it when I changed it.

So you dumped out good oil?
I thought truckers utilized the oil testing due to the volume of oil and for economical purposes (seeing as they have very efficient filtration systems) don't change the oil until it is out of spec. I know sooner is safer but it seems like it can handle 20k easy.

Keif, Technically you are correct.
However Amsoil is good for 25k or 12 months So it was due based on time not miles.
When i spoke with Amsoil they said that if I changed the filters (Which would need approximately 2.5 Qrts of new oil) My base number would be back to normal levels and I could have run the oil longer. I would have to do analysis every 3k - 4K miles

KOH?? King of the Hammers? ;)

The property in the oil that is responsible to neutralize Acid that is produced in the engine. This is the number(Base) that would the replenished when 2 new quarts were added.

Definition: "The mass of potassium hydroxide (KOH) in milligrams that is required to neutralize one gram of chemical substance".

I think its wise not to push it too far, especially with all the junk (ethanol) in our reformulated gasoline- I have had old FJ40's with old fuel that would start and new fuel in newer cars (carbeurated and fuel injected) that would not run on stale ethanol blend. It also forms a nasty shellac that gasoline won't even cut. Alcohol or laquer thinner cuts it. I'm not a chemist but I think my oil gets dirty faster too.

Kief, you are right and thats why I changed it and will change every 12months
