Its pretty hit or miss they usually don't even care. The first time I went through with mine they treated it like the 2f did the little checks and I was on my way. They only thing he even mentioned was that it was an automatic. 2nd time wasn't much different they didn't even care that it was a v8 they ran it as it sat. Neither time a supervisor even came out. As long as your smog stuff is in tact and working they won't do much inspecting past the basic stuff.

Well, mine was different.

The one guy said they have to change it to test as an 8 cylinder... dont know why.

Then they wanted to fail me based on EVAP stuff, but I said WHOA, "i have it all installed look over here". Then the super. came out and looked and gave it the thumbs up. Evap tested ok, Then ran in on the dyno and done....

I asked if they would "put me in their system" and he said just to remind the tech it has an engine swap, and all is good.

No biggie really, i was kinda suprised. I was waiting for them to check vin#'s, and all that other CA smog bull-snit...after all, phoenix IS turning into L.A.

Time to put it to use!!!

Happy :)

Still need lift and tires.. oh and bumpers (down the road)

:beer::beer:

A few updates... mostly I'm enjoying the truck, and tinkering when I have free time. Im currently in the middle of a SLOW rear bumper build (like a couple minutes on week nights)

I'm hoping to hit it hard again in the fall, and do the following:

Knuckle rebuild
T-case rebuild
Suspension
Cargo storage

Now for the (crappy-need new camera) pics :steer:

I did a smittybuild with stereo ( I really like it BTW)
Also New wheels and tires 285/75/16 Falken AT's and Tundra Steelie... Very happy so far.

Oh I had a qeustion:

I NEEEED to get my A/C going. Temps in PHX are hitting upper 80's already.

Besides new lines from firewall to compressor, what needs to be done? IE. oil?, charge?, etc?

Is A/C better left to the pros?

Found your post while browsing 16" wheel threads and Falken tires....

My experience with A/C was rather crazy. You need to make sure you have no leaks. Dye in the system will be a must, and you will probably lose your first charge of refrigerant. (I did)

I ended up getting a new dryer and condenser from Coolstream A/C. My condenser had a cracked pipe on the large port side. And the dryer was relatively cheap and figured what the heck. Also be sure to use new green o-rings with R-134a.

My buddy is an A/C mechanic and a LC freak. He had everything I needed as far as filling the system goes.

Do you think you could take some better pictures of your tire/ wheel set-up? I'm curious to see what it looks like. My BFG A/T's look like a dryed up lake bed (granted they are 5 years old). Falken has three sizes in a 285/75/16. I'm guessing you have the "Wild Peak A/T's"

Thanks :)

My stock a/c button turns on a relay to fire the gm compressor and the a/c idle up/fan for the factory computer.

Cleaned up today after a trip to the mountains yesterday... thought I'd snap some pics for you guys.

Hey thanks for the pictures. That thing looks pretty good. Sounds great too!

Nice job, I have to say I'm impressed. I especially like the seat covers. Whoever did the partial blackout on the grill must have been a genius, look good lol. This rig is the one I have always regretted selling, at least it's being cared for.

Where have you been? Hiding in a hole?? lol

Thanks man. I love the rig in the end!!

It still needs A/c though :flipoff2:

Maybe I'll take it down to Cool Stream to have it all finished up......

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the only change in the A/C system end up being your compressor, everything else is stock correct?

Yes sir,

GM comressor, also custom lines have yet to be done.

I think it may require a different dryer, but i have no idea honestly.

You don't need a new dryer but it wouldn't be a bad idea to do It anyway while the system still isn't charged. I'm actually going through this right now. I never got the a/c hooked up and today was brutal without it. What did we have here today like 112? I went to the junkyard this morning to get everything I need.

Dan, Get ahold of Rex down here. He'll set you up. BTW: I was in your neck of the woods last night dropping the wife off. Going out to work on the Cruiser this morning. later matt
