The pulley was slightly smaller but the automatic tensioner took up the slack fine.
Install was tight, but easy.
Had a separate big question I posted in a separate thread.
So far so good, thanks for the insights folks.

I kept going back and forth about ordering Denso or something with higher output. The Denso was going to be close to $200 and wasn't going to ship for nearly a week, so I decided to order the 240 Amp unit from phoenix-alternator.com (same company as tucsonalternator.com). These are newly manufactured in Tucson and carry a 2 year warranty.

My total cost $428.99 including the $60 upgraded cable kit, which is required if you want their warranty. They're telling me it's a 1-2 day build time. I'll share the results once I get it installed and run it a little.

Do you have any pics of = how you routed the wiring on your 240A Phoenix? I'm wanting to see where the inline fuse was mounted

I received a new alternator with a pig tail where the factory plug had been. Upon installation I found that this pigtail interfered with the engine mounted gusseted bracked for the power steering pump. Not a big deal - I cut away the interference and installed the alternator (I wasn't about to pull it another time).

I emailed Chris and let them know the snags I hit and suggested the plug be placed on the back of the unit. I'm not sure they took my advice or not.

Well...Chris didn't take your advice. After asking about this issue before ordering I still received an alternator with the connector/pigtail coming out the side of the alternator instead of the rear like the OEM alternator. Frustrating as hell.

Here's some pics of the wiring.

After some not so fun back and forth, Phoenix fixed my issue and overnighted a properly built alternator. From this point forward all of their GX470 alternators are supposed to be built with the pig tail connector coming off the rear of the alternator to avoid the clearance issues.

I bought a Phoenix 240A alternator last week and called after placing my order to confirm it would ship with the pigtail coming out of the back of the unit instead of the side. I'm not sure who I spoke with, but their first reply was that the pigtail was flexible and could bend in any direction it needed to. After pressing the issue they agreed to change it. I received my alternator today and it has the OEM connector instead of the pigtail. There's a warning tag on the pulley that says it's smaller than factory and requires a 1/2" smaller belt. Could the smaller pulley also fix the problem the pigtail was supposed to address, or do they all ship with this tag? I'll call them tomorrow, but it suffices to say that they haven't done anything to fix the connector problem.

The Phoenix alternator is supposed to have the same size pulley as OEM. That's one of the things that pushed me to order it instead of one of the other aftermarket options. This is the first I've heard of it being smaller. I'd call them up and ask about it.

I have a nationsstarterandalternator 290A alt and it’s been amazing for years on my 03. Have a voltage booster in and running 14.1-14.7V with odyssey dual batteries
what's the Voltage booster do? 14.1-14.7 seems normal?

14.1 - 14.7 is normal, most new Toyota/Lexus vehicles are wired with a low voltage system. Factory output is in the high 13V range and will not charge enough to maintain warranty on most AGM batteries. The voltage booster replaces the factory diode, in the fuse box under the hood and boosts voltage back up to keep your charging system in line.

Got a link to this Voltage Booster?
I haven't heard of it before.
And......it must’ve slipped your mind heh heh

Thanks just ordered one. Actually tried to replace my battery today. I say tried because I bought the 27F X2 Power from Batteries + but when I got to the store they were out of stock. fortunately, my battery is on its last legs and not dead. I also work a mile from my house so I can wait until it comes in. I'll be doing a dual battery system this year, and possibly a new, bigger, alternator... I'll be curious in the long term reviews of all the alternators here

Which of the ones in the link did y'all go with? It looks like the MK3 might be the one to go with, but wanted to confirm.

I went with
MK3 Mini blade 7.5A (Electronic fuse version) | HKB Electronics - https://www.hkbelect.com/product/120-mk3-mini-blade-75a-electronic-fuse-version-2007/
said 2-6 weeks for delivery depending on postal code. I assume the 2 weeks is still in Aus. so probably more like 4-6 depending on customs.
I put this one in my cart too...
their listed prices are in Australian dollars, but by the time postage was added, it came to $56 US. ($70 Aus)
is that about what you paid?

Yeah, I ordered 2 (got a buddy with a GX ) and think it was $90 shipped. not cheap, but worth it if it keeps my battery charged and allows them to live a bit longer.
