Time to replace the one on the 3rd Gen and tired of these plastic tanks. There are several options and I am cool with spending
an extra dime. They range from $150 to $500 (not excited to go top end).

Anyone here gone there? Any brands I should stay away from?
 
I ran an Autozone one in my 3rd gen for years and never had an issue with overheating - I’d recommend one in a heartbeat over an expensive aluminum one.
 
Ended up with a GPI racing product. They have gotten good reviews from both off road and the dirt bike forums and
the price was reasonable. Plus it's shiny! :cool:

Story short, the water pump started leaking from the weep hole which morphed into "One Thing leads to Another"
by The Fix (dating myself here). Full timing belt kit, upper and lower hoses, and no idea how old this plastic tanked
unit is. Impressed with the quality of build, the idea of extra cooling surface, and volume.

Very interested to hear about long term reliability and cooling capacity. Thanks for taking a chance and potentially taking one for the team.

I replaced a factory Mazda Rx-7 radiator with a KOYORAD all-aluminum design about 10yrs back and it's been bulletproof, on an engine that's well-known for generating lots of heat and tending to run hot. It now runs cooler than it ever has, and I'm not afraid to drive it in the heat of summer.

I hope you see similar results,

From what I have read, some of these aftermarket brands have been a bioch with fitment. This one was was pretty much spot on and only required a minor wedge with a large faced flat screwdriver to get the last bolt in. Fan shroud bolted right up. Also holds about 1 quart more than the oem unit.
Oh, and the factory skid plate has clearance on the bottom tank.

Cant wait for some hot to see how well it preforms.

:lol:, Well it's snowing as we speak and been in the 20's for overnight lows for several weeks. December I was day dreaming about
fishing... Now it's about splitting wood. How about a long balmy spring?
