Yes, grind only as far as needed. Go easy with chase nice and greased up.

Checked the steering stops and they don’t look tampered with. The passenger one looks like it’s about three threads out with the lock nut and the drivers maybe 3 1/2. Maybe the steering wheel wasn’t perfect turning all the way to the left and the right when they were new? I am curious if this is like a 3.75 turn system.

Turn steering wheel to each lock (knuckle stop). Look to see, that each stop, fits in its pocket on knuckle.
Make sure:
Alignment correct.
TRE inner and outer correct. At stock height.
Crossed leveled, correct.
Rake correct. (Front end 3/4" of more lower than rear.
Ball joints good.
LWR and upper control arm bushing good
LWR and upper control arms not bent.

If all good I'd not worry about it.

Thanks! No lift and I’ve replaced all the worn parts I can find. I do have airbags in the back for my trailer so rake is often different.

Sorry, not sure what these mean or how to do them?

Cross level. Is where the T-bars are adjust so the vehicle sit level, side to side. If on level ground. Stand about 50' behind vehicle. Does look level.

We measure from center of axle to bottom of fender well. We should get equal measurement from one side of front to other. Same for rears, but rears should be about 3/4" higher than fronts (rake, AKA stink bug).

Cross level is change by adjust Torsion bars (T-bars). Search mud you'll find a ton of help on adjust T-bars.
Note:
Very important, to clean and oil T-bars' bolt threads. Before adjusting.
98-05LC, are non ACH systems. Don't get confused by threads on T-bar adjusting of AHC system. ACH is on all LX470, and option on only 06-07 LC.

I always thought cruisers were supposed to have a natural driver’s high side.
