One other thing worth mentioning is that alcohol stoves don't work well at high altitudes.

The butane mixes and Propane are also less effective at higher altitudes and in colder weather. The best bet for high altitude and cold weather is naptha or gasoline. That is why those fuels are so popular with mountaineers.

Go yellow bottle for HEET, and those chicom $7.00 shipped burners kick some serious butt. I have one and it actually works really, really well.

I use a can of Sterno in the bottom of a coffee can. Sterno is basically jellied alcohol. I boil water at 6000 feet in the rain in just a few minutes.
