I was curious as to what AI could find on the web for the most efficient carb for the 2F engine. See below. The 21100-61010 should get roughly 14-16 MPG if everything is set up correctly and the newer 21100-61012 should get 16-18 MPG if everything in the 2F is set up correctly.

From what I am seeing and reading on Ih8mud... this info below is total horsepuckey! Is anyone running the newer 21100061012 and getting anywhere close to 16-18 MPG out of their FJ40 with the 2F engine?

These are OEM or equivalent for the 2F—most efficient for stock setups (15-18 MPG highway if tuned).

Key word in AI… Artificial

AI also says the weber carburetor is a … “Moderate improvement over stock Aisan carb”

That being said I do run a weber 38/38 for the last 30 years

And just now I have undeniable proof that was a good decision because they are an improvement over stock AISAN … says AI :)

If the AI is using Imperial gallons rather than American gallons at sea level, unloaded at 65° with factory lift and wheels, maybe.
Weber is an improvement over the Chinese 'factory' carb, but in my experience the actual Aisin global carb can't be beat for all-round performance.
As for MPG, I get better fuel economy towing my Cruiser with my Duramax than I get in the Cruiser.... but where's the fun in that?
I posted this elsewhere, but it covers this example well:

In my experience. AI works on the old adage that if you say something with enough conviction, you can convince anyone it's true.

I'm an expert in very few areas. But for those areas in which I am an expert I've found AI to be generally inaccurate. This leads me to believe that the many areas in which I am not an expert are not topics on which I should rely on AI.

Yes it is. I am not impressed with the AI at all when it comes to LandCruisers, especially if the AI calls '69 -'74 engines early 2Fs.
Also, most of us here do not keep a carbureted vehicle because of it's milage. Many of us do not keep track of MPG at all, according to several threads seen here. There are quite a few different factors to weigh when choosing a carb, MPG doesn't even make my list. I have been dealing with this particular carb on this particular rig for 40 years now. I am never going to swap it out for a later, vacuum-operated secondary carb to gain a MPG or two. Efficiency is a double-edged blade, I'll stick to the old inefficient simplicity that I can fix on the trail that always gets me home rather than increase complexity that can fail and strand me. That kind of hosepuckery belongs in a Prius forum
