I have 97 LX450 with about 316K miles. Never really had any AC issues. Replaced AC compressor (Denso) about 3 years ago and fan clutch about 6 months ago. Yesterday, went to the store, turned AC on and hot air was coming out from the vents. Popped the hood open and noticed that clutch is not engaged. Is it a common issue for 80 series or ? Any suggestions would me much appreciated. I am in Florida and it's getting hotter every day.

You can on older ones not sure on these compressors but can you unplug it and jump to 12V to see if it will engage? If so then something is up with the wiring/switch

Will the AC compressor kick on with a cold engine?
What is your engine temp when it doesn't work?

While jumping the pressure switch could work, there are 3 relays downstream of the pressure switch that must make in order to get +12 to the clutch.

I didn't check if compressor kicked in with a cold engine and the engine temperature is normal, temp indicator is a bit below half. Never had any issues with temp going up. I will check with my mechanic tomorrow morning and post the results. What are the other 3 relays behind pressure switch?

From the LX450 EWD which can be downloaded from the resources section.

The AC amplifier basically runs the show.
There is an entire section in the FZJ80 FSM for AC system troubleshooting, however there can be some differences between the LX450 AC system and the FZJ80. The LX450 has "Auto AC" which some of the FZJ80s did not have depending on trim level.
