My cruiser pulled double duty over the holidays as a storage / hiding unit. Christmas eve after the kiddo was esleep, I went out to my cruiser to get her "big gift", a Barbie FJ Cruiser. To my surprise, I couldn't get my aftermarket alarm to disarm. I tried both fobs, changing batteries etc etc etc. I came to the conclusion that I would have to manually unlock the truck and set the alarm off in the morning to get it out, which I did.

I can't take the truck back to the installer - it won't start.
Should I have it towed in? I live in East Escondido now and my installer is in west Oceanside, there are 500 car audio businesses in Esco and I'm not really happy with the alarm anyway. Can I or should I just fork over the dough to have some other guy rip it out and install something different?

My main concern is to have the truck for the Jacumba run on Saturday. Anyone with car alarm knowledge want some craft beer to help a brotha out?

Is this factiory alarm? If so, this may be of no help and really only applies to aftermarket.

Most all aftermarket alarms use a relay that opens/closes the ignition/staring circuit at the steering cloumn. Basically, these wires are cut, and the relay inserted which is controlled by the control module. If the thing is not working, You can simply remove the relay and wire nut the wires back together as a temporary fix.

Most aftermarket alarms feature a "valet" or "disarm" switch which is generally mounted under the dash (although techs are getting lazier and lazier and sometimes just let it dangle below the dash somewhere or tiewrap it to something under the dash).

If you can find the switch, you can disarm the alarm by turning the key all the way on (on position just before start) and pushing the switch.

Alternately, if you can find the fuse(s) at the battery or under the dash, pulling it/them may allow the rig to start.

I'm planning on being there:steer:
