I am going up through 7 Springs to check out a few routes. A few years ago several of us ran a trail before 51 ranch, we didn’t get as far in to the area as we wanted but I am planning to go back now.

We will be departing the Shell station at 8711 E. pinnacle peak road st 08:10. We plan to be at our airdown spot by 840 am in case someone is coming from the north. Pack your lunch and make sure you have a full tank of gas.

Usual ham radio station, I will not have a CB.

Trail should be easy to moderate as long as it doesn’t rain.

Plan to be back home around 6PM.

I’m also planning another run on Tuesday, back route to Young.

My wife Sue (Kruiser Kat) and I are thinking of coming along, should the weather hold. Enjoy easy to moderate forest trails - rock climbing not so much. We would be coming from way up north (here in Dewey-Humboldt), so we'd link up at the airdown location, 8:40 AM. Where are you airing down so we can be sure to meet you?

just an observation from Christmas Day this year when we ran Bloody Basin Road from the I-17 side all the way back on Seven Springs Road to North Scottsdale: the descent into Bloody Basin on FR269 has gotten quite rocky - no bad washouts, but no longer the dirt road it used to be

and for an adventurous run off of Seven Springs Road in CSC history, check this out: Wheeling Friday 28th December

Steve,
You mentioned another run on Tuesday. Just curious if you can provide a general area of interest for Tuesday, to help those that have to pick one or the other decide. I hope to make it out for one run.

Watching weather for Monday, here in Dewey-Humboldt (up north) 100% chance of 1 - 3" snow starting 9 AM with steady rain to the south. We had planned on ending the day returning via north Cave Creek Rd and then west along Bloody Basin Rd taking us closer to home - rather then backtrack to the valley for the longer return drive up I-17. A wet drive across the Agua Fria Monument with muddy dogs getting in / out of the vehicles doesn't sound very appealing - sorry but Kruiser Kat and I are gonna cancel - don't wait on us at airdown spot. Hoping you don't see much rain until later in the day where you plan to explore. Thanks for the invite - we're disappointed we need to miss this one.

As the temperature dropped so did more snow, the roads started getting slick and finally forward progress was stopped. While we only drove about 85 miles round trip it was an adventure and a terrific way to end 2018 with the desert covered in snow. We even saw a snow man at the Bronco trail head air up spot.

Thanks, Brice, Chris, Abigail and Alvis for a great day we will all remember for a long time.

We need to think carefully about tomorrow. The roads may be too slick, we shall see.

Sounds like a great trip! Alyssa and I played in the snow close to young we did about 50
Miles 30 off road. I spun the land cruiser 180 and dropped into a ditch and got to drive in that about half a mile. It’s pretty slick north of young. Over all good day and no damage to land cruiser always a good thing!
