See post 56. I believe pin 10 is for the speed interlock safety, meaning the lockers won't engage above a certain speed. I did not connect that pin and everything seems to work ok, just need to be careful not to turn the dial while moving.

What EWD is that? The locker ECU diagram looks different that the one I was referencing. For instance mine shows 4 diodes pointing away from the center box (I assume an IC of some type). Yours shows 3 pointing away and one pointing towards. There are also differences in the depiction of the open and close relays.

That's the 1999 LC EWD, and a quick iPhone photo of it. Weird that they'd be different.

Thanks for the heads up though—I'll jump back to 56 and see what's what.

Edit: I've gone through the thread like 10 times in prep for all the work, and somehow missed the very obvious #56. Even spent a bunch of time sourcing all the individual connectors and terminals. Going to have to wear the dunce cap to bed tonight...

No problem at all, don't sweat it.

Let us know how it turns out. Fun little project for sure.

In the EWD for the rear diff Lock circuit shown in post #99, the rear diff lock switch is only showing two wires coming out: 1) Red/Blue in terminal 1 and Green/Red in terminal 4.

In actuality, there is a white/black (or just white) wire on terminal 2 that's not in the diagram that I can see.

Does anyone know it's function and where it's shown in the diagrams?

What year / model do you have? The 80 series with the 3 position switch for OFF / RR / FR-RR will have three wires in the connector, in positions 1,2,4 as you show. The colors seem to be different however.

The 2000+ ATRAC line differences is really a non-issue. There is literally one bracket that is different from what I recall and really its an extra bracket at that. Can be cut with tin snips. I've seen this specific concern brought up so many times, it really isn't an issue and should be put to rest as it might discourage people, when really it isn't something to be concerned. I have an axle swap on my 01 from a 99. I try to encourage everyone to do the swap over the cutting of the pumpkin because its so easy in comparison. You can bolt on and ride.

I cannot fathom doing all that work! my axle swap took less than a few hours by my self. Bolt off bolt on, bleed brakes and off you go.

you can see the process on my build thread if you are curious. This way is just another way to do it.
I can’t find your build thread

Weird my sig isn't showing up

Lol- turn your phone sideways

Its only because it’s been pointed out to me before as well-

Still being a “learner” is a badge of honor- not demerit mark. 😎

Old thread. A friend gifted me a passenger axle, two actuators (both broken), a '98 rear third, and the black ECU.

I have a '99 LX and am curious if anyone knows if the 98/99 LX are, in fact, prewired to receive a locker. I have a front eaton locker and I know that I have the white connector behind the dash, but where can I look to find the connector for the '4WD CONTROL' ECU?

This thread is invaluable. Thank you

Id be surprised if the 99 LX was pre-wired. The locker ECU is in the passenger footwell.

That’d be the easiest place to check and you could also verify some of the wiring in the junction boxes there, too. You can also look under the truck and see what wiring for the ABS wheel sensors look like. If you need help with what to look for, please DM and I can assist.

If you haven’t reviewed my video, please do so to see some of the wiring differences I encountered on a 99 LC.

How to RETROFIT an OEM rear locker into 100 Series Toyota Land Cruiser?

Just watched your video earlier today. I will definitely take you up on that if you don't mind me chatting with you. I'll go ahead and send you a message

@patchagan the easiest and the best way to hook up a factory e locker to the rotary switch is to use the slee designed circuit.
Slee Offroad

The wiring is traight forward and you can use the same rotary switch to operate the front Eaton locker too.

I have a spare rotary switch as well as the slee control circuit if you are interested.
I've already got the 80-style rotary switch wired up to my front Eaton. I may be interested in the Slee wiring but I am not certain I will need it yet

For you guys that have done this mod with factory e-lockers on vehicles with A-trac, did you install a light to know if the computer is saying it's engaged? Did you do the dash or somewhere else? Would love to see some pics/details. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have a source or know the part number for the short side axle with the longer splines?

I've just acquired the oem 3rd member with locker and I'm starting the process on my 1999 LC.
