Just purchased a 1992 with the 2Lt engine.
It looks like the previous owner has upgraded the intercooler. I live in Colorado and am planning an overland build. The rig has 79k miles on it. Is there anything I should look into to make it capable for high mountain off road trips? Also does this look like a good setup for the engine?

Great that it has an intercooler already, they didn't come with one from the factory and sorely needed one. If it doesn't have a pyrometer installed yet that would be the first thing I'd put on. Make sure the cooling system is in perfect condition, fan clutch working well, good clean coolant. The factory radiator fan is ridiculously undersized, there are several threads here that discuss options for upgrading the fan to a bigger, better unit. Another thing I'd recommend is installing a boost gauge and turning up the boost to around 15psi, or 18psi if you do the mod to trick the ECU into thinking the boost is lower. Lots of good info on here about all the mods you can do to make the 2L-TE a bit more robust.

@Walkedcastle , It's pretty impressive the PO fit that FMIC in there with (2) batteries. Impressive welding! Agree with the above... Get an EGT. Try to keep temps under 700 Celsius and you shouldn't have any overheating issues and have peace of mind while over-landing. Keep an eye on vibrations / rubbing from the LHS turbo tube with the battery, coolant fitting, and coolant hose That is a pretty tight fit. 2LT shakes quite a bit when running and on shutdown. Is that a "catch can" in front of the fuel filter on the LHS. Never seen those on a 2LT. Interesting, whatever it is.
