Haven't seen anyone say it looks bad, pretty popular size around here. If it weren't my daily I would have gone bigger.

Just got my 33”s on. Don’t have any straight on pics but I do agree with others that the 275/70R18 seems like they should be the factory spec size. I can also concur now that they’re on, they definitely give the LX a proper stance but if it werent my daily I’d almost want to see if I couldn’t go up to 34”s. Dont think I’m not content though as my primary function is the best stock DD tire setup and this is the one.

Any rubbing? Do you have wheel spacers ?

Is your suspension stock? Looking to get same size tire and want to make sure there is no rub. Thanks!
I no longer have the car, but, yes, the suspension was stock, and I had no rubbing whatsoever.

I've got new 275/70/18s on mine right now, Kenda KR601s. I'm rubbing a little tiny bit at full lock on the pinch weld covers and the washer reservoir box/cover. I wonder if it's the spacers, the specific tires, my ride height (AHC is still getting a little more work from me) or what. I may yet try without the spacers, TBH, and if that doesn't clear it up, I'll go on and pull those covers and massage the pinch welds down. I wanted to keep the center caps on the 200 wheels, and do think pushing the tires out that inch or so looks great- but I also don't have to have any of that. Fair bit of rub if I ever need to go low in a parking deck or something, too.

This is AHC in high, btw. Rub is at “normal” heights. I’m honestly not sure if it rubs at high but I doubt it.

Thanks for the detailed analysis of your ride. I've had a few ppl on the forum say they don't experience rub with the 275/70/18's at mid height and non AHC stock suspension. Hard for me to beleive, especially if offroading. I'd imagine there needs to be enough space for the wheels to articulate when going over rocks.

I'm considering 275/65/18 or the 275/70/18 with no lift. Gotta allocate my lift fund towards new bushings cv joints, etc.

It’s 100% the spacers.

What rock sliders do you have? Thx

Those are white knuckle offroad. They got used their first trip out, if you look close you can see where I skinned allllll my fresh rustoleum right off the bottom of the DS one. Lil amazon-box quick mask, and a shot of paint from the can in my garage, good as new. :)

I'm pretty sure 275/70/18 is a very safe fit. Before this, I'd had 285/75/16 K02s on, and those were fine. These are (per tiresize.com) like 1.25% bigger overall- but evidently that (and a little tire wear) makes the difference. I'll have to try without the spacers. The tire will stuff better 1.25" farther in anyway. What's funny is that I'd seen people talk about running 295/70/18s AND on spacers, and they ALSO said they don't rub. I truly have no idea what to believe at this point. I bought the spacers for a little extra track width when the then-16yo almost flipped us while I was teaching him to drive, but he won't drive this truck after that incident. 😅

The shiny tires thing comes up occasionally on most 4x4 forums. It's not supposed to be cool to care what your tires look like. I don't drive a piece of $#& beater Nissan pickup, so I want it to look good. That said, I do NOT like goopy, slimy shiny tires.

This is a BFG (on my CJ) in its natural state - the state that is supposed to be cool...

I think ^that^ looks like s***. It's brand new, washed and not treated. Grey = dry. Brown = UV chemical from factory

For any of my cars/trucks, the tires get cleaned, then treated with a low-gloss tire "shine" - best are water-based formulas that can
be cut to further reduce the shine - then wiped to even out and eliminate any of the shiny

The BFGs are - for the most part - like any other tire, with regard to how well or poorly they take/hold tire treatment. Every once in a while, you'll find a BFG (probably any brand) that seems to go to grey/brown much faster than the other tires. There's an anti-UV chemical that causes that. Supposedly it will go away with time. I'm fighting that on one of my new KOs. It just looks dirty faster than the others. If it persists, I'll have it swapped under the warranty. Discount Tire is good like that.

This is how my uncool treated tires look on the 100...

I used to do the low shine and rinse with water too. Mainly because I don’t like shine either, not to mention I live very far from civilization and drive a lot of gravel and the dust only sticks to it. I discovered this meguiar’s product. Spray it on and pressure wash it off before it dries. Makes the white lettering and black side walls look bran new with zero shine. If you’re careful you may get 8 tire cleanings out of one bottle, so it is spendy, but in my opinion, well worth it.

Also, where could a guy get a set of those grey steel wheels for his 100?

*edit: and it removes the grey/brown on old tires too.
