I was driving at dusk on 101 and a deer jumped out into the road, and as I slowed down thinking "when there is one, there is sure to be another.." the second jumped out before I could even finish the thought. I rolled right over him/her after knocking it down. Glad it wasn't a large buck! A lot of cosmetic damage - parking sensors, camera, but all in all little real damage. The AC is not working as it leaked out from somewhere. It will be interesting to see what cost is for repairs. Thankfully Travelers insurance does not count animal strikes against you.

Where's the Hair?

ARB.

The precise reason they exist.

My TJM T13 hit a deer at that speed...

Result: Slightly bent license plate...and a dead deer.

Does anybody even make a front bumper for the current LX? I thought I saw somewhere CBI was working on one, but it mighta been for the earlier models.

8 pt buck at 75 MPH. Crossing from driver side to passenger side, his head hit my hood/headlight and then he rotated around and hit me again on drivers door. And yes, he crapped on my qtr panel.

14k damage

Always making me jealous with the deer bouncing off story! Seeing that level of carnage always gives me the willies. What is the highest speed you have driven at with your bumper on an open road?

TJM's bumpers for newer land cruisers are the best looking bumpers I have seen. I contacted TJM Australia trying to see if I could retrofit one on my 2009.

Bumpers with AHC is the best combination in my eyes BUT I don't think I could ever chop an LX. I am pretty sure I would have trouble even putting sliders/KO2 and ruining 'the look.'

Besides the 'cosmetic' I see a new A/C condenser, Transmission fluid cooler and electric fan in your future.

Since it looks like your headlights didn’t get screwed which are a couple grand a piece so you’re going to come in at about 16 grand glad you’re all right

OUCH!!
16k would buy 10 TJM T13’s.
If you live in critter country...bull bars are a great investment.

The truck I had before this was prepared for deer. But after being in Los Angeles for the last 4 years, until a month ago, there was no need as the only road hazards there were people, and you cannot use the bull bar on them

That new angular front end is begging for a custom bumper and bar. Lots of design possibilities there. Can you get a check from insurance, pay to get the mechanicals fit up, and then commission a custom?

Looks like a good challenge for @TRAIL TAILOR

My :princess: hit a deer at slow speed with our ARB-equipped 200. Knocked it down and rolled over it. No damage to truck. None. Zero.

That would likely provide a lot less protection than you might think. An ARB or TJM front bumper is a very different kind of thing.

Agree. Nudge bars/brush bars are definitely not bull/roo bars. It’s not just about extra metal up front. It’s about the structural strength and attachment anchors that the structure mates to.

Most nudge/brush guards attach mainly to the front tow points and bend from that elongated leverage point.
