lv leaving full.webp

Well its here. I'll pull it in the Garage tonight. Wife was home when it showed up. Driver didn't speak much english and was itallian... so it fits with the naming structure of Mob characters.

I get to take a look at it in 3 hours. I'll post some pictures.

As promised a few more pictures.

1967 FJ45 LV

My boy wanted to vacuume it out... he did a great job.

Edit: Thanks Bill. Love the Wagon!

Haha, I've received several PM's and messaged from others that have said the same thing!

first thing - Figure out a great Mob name for it. Im told it needs to be feminine.
second thing - Look at it for a month or so
third thing - start cutting up Mudmonster and making this one rust free.

Beautiful to the max!

Quite the score in my book.

Dan

Thanks!

Frikkkkkkken sweet.

If your interested there are more pictures up.

Today my wife let me take a day off on our House remodel.

1. Swapped tires
2. Tore apart and Blasted rear door.
3. Primed it
4. Asked a mod to change the title to "2008 FJ45 Run bound build thread" AKA: Tinkering.

The original right rear door is pretty rusty at the bottom... Craziest thing I've ever seen as the floors are near perfect! I almost sold all 4 doors to a guy back east and now I'm very glad I didn't. The door is perfect, no body work OR rust to be found.

Here are a few pictures. All of today pictures can be found here: First things first... tinkering 03.29.08

Nice LV!

What compressor are you using and blaster? What kind of media? That looks way easier than sanding to paint...but I don't think my compressor is big enough.

What kind of paint you using?

Thanks and good luck on the rig!

The compressor is a 1991 Speedair 80 gallon direct drive. I get about 4 minutes of time blasting and about 6 minutes of refill time with an 80.

I have about 4 different types of media. I think it was a mixture of metal and sand... have no clue to be honest.. I haven't used my blaster for about 4 months and cant remember what I put in there.

Paint: Usually DP90LF for primer, but its not summer yet so I just rattlecanned it with some Lowes Primer.... I was suprised at how clean it actually turned out. Door was 100% perfect so that helped.

Mike,

With all that one-inch bondo so generously given by a previous owner, perhaps you should look on the bright side; consider it as extra insulation from the noise and the elements!

Good job--that door looks great.

I think I saw your truck at Bill's when I picked up his 45 pickup.
At least the scenery around there looks the same.

Ah, so you got the truck. Very cool. It was very tempting for me to buy both as that truck had some cool character. Glad I didn't though. I am actually very very happy with this LV. It has some rust here an there and that ding up front, but fortunately I have a spare LV to pull metal from. That will make the job go much quicker.

I just hope I can get this road and kid worthy before the 45 run. I'm really looking forward to getting down there.

Yep,

We can talk about the joys of tearing into stuff-- noticed YOUR can of PBBlaster.
I swear I'm gonna find that little Japanese assembly-line worker that torqued-on every dang bolt, and then finished by soaking them with some kind of rust-attracting emulsion. Little bugger!

My truck had been living outside for a lotta years, and used, I suppose, the way it was intended.
It's just that the rear bed got really hammered at the front and at the tailgate and on the floor.

And I guess it was really hard for the original owners not to get carried away welding on extra stuff and drilling holes for all their gadgets. Oh, well!! It's gonna look original SOME day.

Back at it tomorrow!
