Hello, I have been developing a RTT lighting system out of my garage for the past year using LED's. I'm new to this stuff but like what I have done so far. Here are a few photos of my work. Is there is much interest in this type of thing??? I am making more of what I have if anyone is interested in something like this. Thank you.

MORE

I need MORE details. Lumens, power, # of bulbs, waterproof and of course estimated cost. Very interested!

Thx,
Blake

FWIW I took a ~40" length of 3M VHB backed waterproof LED strip (higher wattage LEDs spaced at 1"), from a roll...stuck it to a piece of aluminum matching the width of the OEM ceiling net clips...soldered a lead and then cord...connected it to a PWM waterproof mil-spec on/off/dimmer...epoxied the dimmer out of harms way on the floor of the Columbus...used a bulkhead style Hella fitting in the shell...easy fabbed adapter that runs from the Hella in the shell to one of my rear mounted 12v power outlets (didn't want it permanently wired)...great light source.

The LED's I use produce 400 lumens per 18" length in a waterproof housing. The photos are of my Eezi-Awn Series 3 1200 sized tent (about 4'X8' open) with an 18" light installed, photographed indoors. It is pretty bright, almost too bright honestly. I would probably prefer a 12" section for this sized tent. 12" would be plenty.

These LED's draw very little power, only about 600 milliamps for the 18" light. I just counted 27 bulbs on my 18" section.

I have built my kit using measurements from the Eez-Awn line but it certainly appears through my basic research that many of our different model RTT's are roughly about the same dimensions (or close to).

I hope that does answer some of your questions. I'm still working on many things including price right now. I hope to have a better idea soon.

Thanks for the interest!

http://www.theledlight.com/flexible-led-strips-index.html... 12 volt DC. I have a strip on my 62s rear lift gate for cooking under...haven't wired it up right yet, but just unplug the rear defrost and hook up the lights. need to work out the wiring and a piggy back switch near the rear dome switch, but I like the effect so far...

Here is another photo of my light system in action-er, well just sitting there actually.

Let me know if I can answer anyone's questions.

Thanks for your interest!

I think a dimmer would be important. Especially in the woods, too much light can be a pain because nobody can use the light if someone's resting, and being night blinded is easy to do with no ambient light. So you click it on to find a pair of shoes, then you can't see to walk out and take a leak, etc.

Idaho Doug,

I use a dimmer switch for the very reasons you listed. No fun being blinded full blast in the middle of the night. I use a touch style dimmer switch. You touch it and it turns on, hold it to dim/brighten to desired brightness and touch it again and it turns off. Pretty neat deal honestly.

As the weather gets a bit better I will have more detailed photos of my lighting system. I will post more information once I have it as well.

Thank you for the interest!

I'll be in Moab at Cruise Moab 2014 at vendor night (Thursday May 1st.) if you want to come by and say hi!

Hopefully I will have pricing and availability sorted by then. Feel free to contact me with dimensional specifics at your leisure. I will post pricing soon!!!!
I would like to help any way I can.

Thanks!!!

Ross
