That's pretty much my take on things. If I am where it lives, I am the invader and I avoid and go on. If it is where I live, it's open season.

And, as an update on the dogs, one is doing fine (the one that was struck second and in the eye). The other I had to put down today. The venom causes the blood not to coagulate (sp?) and she was bleeding out. She was a 15 year old 12 poudn dog, so she didn't have much to fight with. We'll miss her.

That's incorrect. Water moccasins and cottonmouths are the same thing. A copperhead is a completely different snake.

That's correct. Copperheads and cottonmouths are both pit vipers, but they are not the same.

We have a lot of Copperheads around here too (my chocolate lab was bitten 3 different times).

Like you, I mostly leave them alone, but maybe its time for me to open up a Can 'O Kick Ass on them.

What's interesting is it really isn't something you hear alot about , but then again we don't have as many poisonous snakes as the south.

one of the least or less potent venomous snake to get it from is a cottonmouth or copperhead,,, better recovery,,, suggestion: freeze the copperheads live in a mason jar then call a local taxidermist,, they pay $$$ to make hatbands
