So, really strange, when I push off, the A/C no longer turns off. It still works fine, and I can change the temp and fan, but just won't turn off. I guess I'll just take it to the dealer, but has anyone seen this issue before?

This happened to me also, then I realized I have the "fridge" turned on, if the center console fridge is turned on then the AC will not turn off on the control unit... Turn the fridge off and then the AC will turn right off... hope this works for ya!

Yup, that's what I was going to say.

Freaking A, I can't believe I fell for the banana in the tailpipe. Thanks guys...I feel pretty dumb, but I should be used to that by now. Now that I think about it, I think there was a post on this a while back. Anyway, thanks!

It happens to all of us, with a new car i usually read the owners manual cover to cover within the first week and on day one I always sit in and push every single button in the car haha I figured it was tied into the ac unit when I looked in at the fridge and switched it on in the showroom and it in turn switched on the ac, after i picked my lc it took me a week to remember how to switch the ac off.

:( i loved my defender it took less than 2 minutes to fiddle round with everything there was and that's it so simple, so beautiful and shuch a pos! They really went south in the QC department on those things but hey that's what 40's are for, really must get one some day...

I just bought a 2008 LC and have only had it a two weeks. I knew it was in a wreck previously and I was stressing this might be a residual problem like two other issues I'm experiencing.

Thank you to all who share their knowledge and provide us new owners guidance and help. This forum is an incredible resource.

Just came across this issue. Thanks for the tip.

It's a cool 68 degrees in Denver this afternoon, didn't want the AC on, hmmm. As I almost never use the fridge, fell for this also.

A high of 68* sounds nice right about now...

Fell for this one also! Love this site. Thanks!
I know this is an old thread but....yeah, I got caught on this one too! I've had the 200 for a few weeks and kept wondering how to turn the fan off!

What is the fridge?? How do I do this!

Speaking of the cool box being tied to 'AC on', how do you run the cool box when it's cold outside? I like cold beer even if I have the heater running in the truck. I do have a fridge in the back but have grown to really like the cool box. It works good. I can leave water and beer in it overnight and within half an hour of driving the contents are cold and ready. Not rodeo cold but good and cold. It is convenient to not have to ask the teens in back to, "Hand me another of them brews from back there" Bonus points to those who pick the song, band and album that quote is from.

I was referring to the cool box in the center console, if it's turned on then you can't turn the A/C off...

I believe it will still cool until the lower ambient temp limit, which is usually close to freezing. Below that you’ll just have to hold it out the window.

Beer + duct tape + roof rack.
