A/C Drain location (Photo request)...drip under glovebox at carwash!

Ok, I lifted the hood and on the passenger side firewall, I see a black tube (nozzle) sticking out. Is this the AC drain? See orange circled in photo. Should I be able to stick a screwdriver or wire or something straight through it or does it bend at a 90 degree angle?

Thanks,
Jason

i saw a video on youtube about a guy that clamped a fuel line to that and elevated it up into his engine bay with the idea that it would keep water out of the truck when crossing rivers...hmm

i've got the same issue with mine...gasket inbound. good time to swap out the cover with the one with the panel access door too for filters.

Sorry to bring old thread back, with hot weather my passenger floor mat start getting same water leak as everyone else when ac is on, can someone confirm part 88578-47040 will work on 04 LC? Every Toyota parts website shows that it’s not correct part for 04, thanks in advance

Sorry to resurrect this thread again, but yes, the part is the same on the LX470. I did mine today. Takes some finagaling to get the rubber piece to fit into the slot. I'd recommend removing your glove box to give yourself more space to work.
Hello-found this thread during my search. I'm dealing with the same issue but I'm a little confused from the comment about removing the glove box. I just removed my glovebox and removed all the screws which surround the box and also the electronics but I coudn't get the cover off the box. I felt like I was going to do more harm than good and break the thing. After seeing your comment about *recommending removing the GB, I'm wondering if you are talking about the same box that I am? The box I am looking at would be impossible to remove without removing the GB?? Is there a way to fix this problem another way? I hope this makes sense. Thanks "03 LX470

The glove box has to come off.

To get the cover off you need to pull on the horizontal plastic bar that blocks the cover. I sort of slid my cover down, the up and out (or vice versa). Anyway, yes it is kind of awkward to get out, but I didn't feel like I was about to break anything. The horizontal plastic bar was fairly flexible in my 98.

Thanks so much for the reply. I think the 03 might be different. the black box I'm talking about is vertically oriented and is about 5" wide by 9" high. The cabin filter is in it. The bottom rail ,for lack of better term, that is what the glove box hinges on is in the way. My question: do I have to remove the cover of this black box? Looking at it from the bottom, I can't see a seem or another place to remove or replace anything. It seems to be a solid bottom. Sorry if I'm confusing the situation but I appreciate your time.

this is looking at the evap box box from underneath looking straight up. You can see where I've circled the hinge point of the glove box. I would have to slide the box down behind that piece of dash where the GB hinge screws to.

Yeah, there is no way to remove that except by cutting it (edit: no way to remove the plastic bar without cutting it. The cover can be removed with some careful maneuvering). Here's another view from earlier in the thread.

You're trying to get that approx 5" x 9" cover off, right? But that bar is in the way? Just pull the bar and slip slide the cover out. It's awkward but should have enough room. In the end it slips out above the plastic bar.

OK, thats what I was thinking also but I just wanted to make sure I wan't missing something. Thanks again

I am a novice. I just replace the evaporator seal yesterday on my 2006 LX. It was not fun but threads like this really helped me out. I maneuvered the black box DOWN and then out the bottom of the bar. Remember to disconnect electrical (in my case I just unscrewed the ABS unit as well). I wasn't clear if the thicker end of the gasket goes on one side vs the other - guessing it doesn't matter but would be nice to know I did it right. Nothing blew up and the AC still works so I guess I did a half-decent job. Thanks for all the pics/tips.

Does our rear AC have a different drain? MY front drain seems to be doing what it should be doing but with the rear AC on full crank I thought they would be draining out of the little tubes up under the rear bumper as well. Maybe those are just roof drains and they all use the same drain up front?

New member to the group and the first post here. Just bought a 2005 LC with 241,000 miles. I'm not very handy but wanting to learn and get better.

When I was driving this morning, my wife noticed this condensation leak issue. I took out the cover and found the seal. It was in bad shape (in fact broken into two). I ordered the new part and for now I put it all back together without putting the broken seal back on. Funnily, when I tested now, it's not leaking. Not planning on driving until new seal is put back on when I get it in couple of days, but curious if you all know why it would stop leaking now. Thank you.
