Anyone headed to HIH from Tennessee or North Carolina / Virginia area? or points East? Looking to get a group together to road trip together early that week, Monday - Wednesday. I'm in Nashville, TN, probably headed West 21st or 22nd. Email me ron@roncoons.com

Pretty good lineup. I have done engineer, so might change thursday, but I thought it would be a good starting point for my dad to see.

Solid lineup there. I'm on the Friday Imogene run with Carl too. Looking forward to seeing you again!

Nice, I have only run imogene in the other direction, so it will be good to go toward Telluride.

Trying to match usernames here to Sched registered names to see who we are trail riding with and they're all so foreign! Also lots of folks set to Private so I guess we'll know at the trailhead...

So excited and really looking forward to it. A HUGE thanks again to @paflytyer and @bluecruiser 👍👍

Cheers,

How I do for my first time? I will have my seven year son with me.

Here's my pre-HIH schedule. Anyone is welcome to join if they want. I'll be camping above Salida starting on Sunday, July 21 (leaving Austin on Saturday 7/20 and doing Medano Pass to Great Sand Dunes NP first thing Sunday morning). While camping above Salida for 2 nights, I'll be exploring Aspen Ridge, Sevenmile Area and Tincup (IF it's open by then). Will hang out at SoulCraft Brewery in Salida and make a stop by Classic Cruisers on that Monday afternoon. Will break camp and depart for Silverton on Tuesday morning (7/23) and cross over Marshall Pass (parallel to 50...highway to Gunnison and Montrose) and then cut down on various gravel roads over Los Pinos Pass to Lake City (should be INCREDIBLE scenery with all the runoff feeding the flowers). From there, head over Cinnamon Pass and down to Silverton for Tuesday night. Will boondock outside Silverton. Wednesday morning, get up and run a few nearby trails (possibly Porphyry Gulch) before the 2pm registration and then do Kendall Peak trail before the evening event. If I get into Silverton early enough, I'll probably make a run up Maggie, Minnie and/or Eureka Gulches (easy/scenic trails barely 2 miles north of Silverton).

Just took myself off private so I can see everyone on my runs. Looks like I'll be with 4 of the same guys on Friday and Saturday. Getting excited...

Me and a buddy may leave Tuesday early and head for Lake City and do Cinnamon with you. If I can get the time off, we may head out Monday morning as well and meet you near Salida.

Signed up for:

Thursday - Imogene to Last Dollar
Friday - Stony Pass (giving the queen some seat time!)
Saturday - Alpine Loop (may skip and spend the day in Durango to give the kids a break like we did last year)
Sunday - Clear Lake to Super Secret

Thought we'd seen the last of @smakee so I'm glad to see his name on some of these runs!

I volunteered my wife to lead Friday so we'll see ya there! Should be interesting!

@bluecruiser Should I have the Ladies run on my Sched if my wife's the leader for that day? I don't want to soak up a slot that could go to anyone else.

Thursday - Clear Lake, Friday - Yankee Boy, Saturday - Imogene, Sunday - Black Bear.

Going to stick around the area a few days after so maybe we'll do Alpine Loop and some other local stuff. Was thinking of heading to Grand Canyon but not sure when we'll be back in area and want to enjoy the mountains and Silverton area. Plus we have to drive to Houston for a week and then back to Michigan after so didn't want to add to much more seat time.

Pretty happy with the line up. Sorry I'll miss the polar plunge tho.

I’m unsure as to why someone would be set to private? Just curious.

If you've never been off-road before and don't fully know what range/gears to be in, you might want to choose something rated as easy for your first day until you get the hang of how all the levers/buttons work. If you've got a little experience, then you're probably fine.

First time to Colorado. I bought my first 40 my sophomore year of high school back in 1989. Just curious if I picked at good mix of trails to take in the full experience.

I edited my Sched profile to show my real name and my Mud handle. I wish everyone would do that. Hint Hint...

You got Imogene, Ophir, Black Bear, Corkscrew, Poughkeepsie, Yankee Boy/Governor Basin AND you get to do the Polar Plunge on your first trip! I'd say you did quite good.

Imogene is the highest pass available down there and Black Bear is the "bucket-list" trail and the "plunge" is a bucket list HIH event.
