Can’t go wrong with kubota! I beat mine like a rented mule and just keeps going.Looking at a used Kubota MX5200 with a bucket and field mower. Still can't decide if I really want to part with all of the money though.
Nice looking brush rake !Can’t go wrong with kubota! I beat mine like a rented mule and just keeps going.

Very nice, I’m on the hunt for haying eqmt. I’m don’t like relying on others to hay my pasture. We collect 2-3x/year which is not justification to buy a bunch of s***, but how cool are tractors? Can’t go wrong with kubota! I beat mine like a rented mule and just keeps going.

That MX5200 is a massive unit for only five acres unless you plan to do some serious earth moving. 50hp is a lot. I just finished my months long Kubota quest with the decision to buy my retiring coworkers B2710 (27hp) with FEL and practically new 4’ brush hog for my three acres. He is also selling me the tandem axle trailer he used to haul it around. The package deal cost $12k. I’ll end up selling the trailer bc I have a better one already. Tractors are just cool, especially orange ones.Since you guys are all tractor nerds, is it worth the extra money to have 3rd function hydraulics added to the front of a used 50HP Kubota tractor and maybe adding hydro to the rear as well? I assume being able to run a grapple would be nice, so would hydro adjustment for the top link of the 3 point, or any other hydraulic accessories for the back.
Seems like a lot of money for things I'm not sure I'll need. I'll definitely get some pallet forks so I can take sick flex pics of my 80s for all of you though.![]()

Have you not been paying attention to this guys antics? He goes over the top for EVERYTHING.That MX5200 is a massive unit for only five acres unless you plan to do some serious earth moving. 50hp is a lot.

I say go bigger. Ask Lexus to make a tractor for you. 5,000psi hydraulic internals with 7 redundant backups. Move the world.
Edit: the answer to your original question is, you don’t need a tractor. Lmao!![]()
Hire/ rent a skid steer.Long term -
Short term -
- Field mow ~4 acres without taking all day
- Maintain what ever gravel roads I put in
- Take flex shots of my truck
- Move the flat deck trailer around the property as needed
- Pull apart a bunch of brush piles so I can sort out the trash and burn the rest
- Remove a bunch of old stumps (old and rotten enough that I shouldn't need a pickle fork)
- Brush rake sections of the property to remove blackberrry briars
- Brush rake areas of the pasture that are full of debris
- Demo a barn
- Demo 1400' of barbwire fence
- Clear and level a pad for the new shop (80x 100 area)
- Grade fill dirt brought in for a couple of low spots (~ 600 yards)
- Gravel and grade old sections of driveway so they run-off in the right direction
- Backfill the ~3000' of trenching I'm going to need to do for utilities
- pick and stow pallets off my trailer
- Bucket up to the low branches on all of the big trees and clean them up
Honestly all things better suited for a skid steer, apart from the things I need the unit for long term.
That’s one heck of a reply. You could do all that with less but it would just take longer. I think what you are saying is that yours is bigger than mine. Speaking of mine, I have to leave in one hour to go pick it up and of course, the rain is relentless.Long term -

I decided to move. It’s the best thing for us.I'd be murdering my in-laws. You're a better man than me.
I hired a home inspector to come out next Wednesday. Fine tooth comb my entire house, give me an itemized list of non-negotiable items requiring fix and I’ll fix everything professionally and sell the house. And what about that cave under your house???
I’d have to chop them up to fit their big asses through the small access door, then their blood will leak into my basement. Bad idea bro. Might be worth it thoughAt least you have somewhere discreet for the in-law's bodies
Might be worth it though![]()
