Looking at a used Kubota MX5200 with a bucket and field mower. Still can't decide if I really want to part with all of the money though.
You don’t seem to have a problem with that part. It’s only money, bro.

Can’t go wrong with kubota! I beat mine like a rented mule and just keeps going.

Very nice, I’m on the hunt for haying eqmt. I’m don’t like relying on others to hay my pasture. We collect 2-3x/year which is not justification to buy a bunch of s***, but how cool are tractors?

Since you guys are all tractor nerds, is it worth the extra money to have 3rd function hydraulics added to the front of a used 50HP Kubota tractor and maybe adding hydro to the rear as well? I assume being able to run a grapple would be nice, so would hydro adjustment for the top link of the 3 point, or any other hydraulic accessories for the back.

Seems like a lot of money for things I'm not sure I'll need. I'll definitely get some pallet forks so I can take sick flex pics of my 80s for all of you though.

That MX5200 is a massive unit for only five acres unless you plan to do some serious earth moving. 50hp is a lot. I just finished my months long Kubota quest with the decision to buy my retiring coworkers B2710 (27hp) with FEL and practically new 4’ brush hog for my three acres. He is also selling me the tandem axle trailer he used to haul it around. The package deal cost $12k. I’ll end up selling the trailer bc I have a better one already. Tractors are just cool, especially orange ones.

What do you plan to do besides flex?

Have you not been paying attention to this guys antics? He goes over the top for EVERYTHING.

I say go bigger. Ask Lexus to make a tractor for you. 5,000psi hydraulic internals with 7 redundant backups. Move the world.

Edit: the answer to your original question is, you don’t need a tractor. Lmao! 🤣

Long term -
  • Field mow ~4 acres without taking all day
  • Maintain what ever gravel roads I put in
  • Take flex shots of my truck
  • Move the flat deck trailer around the property as needed
Short term -
  • Pull apart a bunch of brush piles so I can sort out the trash and burn the rest
  • Remove a bunch of old stumps (old and rotten enough that I shouldn't need a pickle fork)
  • Brush rake sections of the property to remove blackberrry briars
  • Brush rake areas of the pasture that are full of debris
  • Demo a barn
  • Demo 1400' of barbwire fence
  • Clear and level a pad for the new shop (80x 100 area)
  • Grade fill dirt brought in for a couple of low spots (~ 600 yards)
  • Gravel and grade old sections of driveway so they run-off in the right direction
  • Backfill the ~3000' of trenching I'm going to need to do for utilities
  • pick and stow pallets off my trailer
  • Bucket up to the low branches on all of the big trees and clean them up

Honestly all things better suited for a skid steer, apart from the things I need the unit for long term.

Hire/ rent a skid steer.
Buy a tactor

I think you need a few MK-84s to level the place. After, name it “Bích Phúc Đạt” in honor of Operation Linebacker II.

That’s one heck of a reply. You could do all that with less but it would just take longer. I think what you are saying is that yours is bigger than mine. Speaking of mine, I have to leave in one hour to go pick it up and of course, the rain is relentless.

Perhaps someone has photshopped your image Pell, but it looks like you have your roof panels underneath the framing? Am I morning wasted or is that the case? Or, did you place a secondary layer on the interior which slightly redeemed you from the wrong axis install up top? Inquiring minds want to know.
Also, heavy equipment leads one down the path of doing s*** you really shouldn't be doing. My employer has a Dingo TX1000 and a Sany SV35U. Ask my how much various pieces of conduit and drainage I've had to replace. due to the operator (not me actually) thinking full throttle is the best answer all the time. I've still not broken anything with our machines knock on wood.

Fellas. How’s it been? It’s been a while. Let me explain.

- 7/21 Bought home from in-laws and they stay in the in-law suite.
- Trusted certain people to perform renovation on home while still active duty and overseas.
- Retired from military and came to TN 8/22. Time to get a civilian job and unwind right?
NO.
- 8/22 moved into home. According to my in-laws basement had a leak and it was fixed.
- 11/22 installed soft water system.
- 1/23 rains and water begins leaking into basement. This shouldn’t be happening.
- 3/23 get new roof and new gutters to mitigate basement leakage.
- 3/23 brand new soft water system malfunctions and floods out our newly renovated basement. About 6 months old.
- Lawyers doing their thing.
- 3/23 rip apart basement for water mitigation. Find out the contractor my certain trusted agents hired cut many corners. Poor build quality. For example stuffing empty toilet paper roll cardboard to make a washer inside of my wooden staircase banister. He couldn’t find a tool that would fit inside the banister to torque the nut down all the way so he used toilet paper cardboard and stuffed it in there as a make shift washer. I. KID. YOU. NOT.
- it gets worse
- 4/23 go to tip up flooring and find mold.
- found another leak that was leaking for so long that it molded the living room flooring.
-5/23 working with insurance. Rain falls like crazy. Basement begins to flood again. What in the actual ****? I JUST BOUGHT NEW ROOF AND GUTTERS.
- Found out my trusted agents believed the contractor fixed the leak and didn’t verify anything. So the leak remains.
-5/23 called in experts. American Leak Detect drove 1.5 hours and charged me an automatic fee of 1500 without a guarantee they’d find the source of the leak. Found nada
- 5/23 called in two other experts from water mitigation companies. Found nada. Told me to build up the dirt and landscaping around my home. **** you very much.
- 2023 barn is leaking. Fixed roof.
- 2022 found out our electrical was hacked so many times it was a danger. Redid the entire homes electrical.
-2022 added surge protection. New plugs everywhere.
- 11/23 added French drains
- 12/1/23 my amazing 94 year old neighbor tells me about sink holes in the area. I laugh it off and think that s*** only happens in Florida.
12/2/23 Call insurance to ask about sink holes. They tell me it’ll be another $800 just to rewrite it now. I told them let’s wait. Sink holes only happen in Florida anyway.
12/4/23 Rain comes and guess what. My French drains, the building up of dirt and landscaping around our home, new roof, new gutters, new every-****ing thing and my basement floods again.
- 12/5 I find a small door with a latch and it happens to be the crawl space under the addition on my home someone put in many years ago.

- ODD. what’s in there? Have I seen this before? No. Weird. Let’s open the door. What do I see? I think I see a ****ING SINK HOLE! I now know where the water has been infiltrating.
-How did the housing inspector miss this?
- How did the numerous agencies miss this?
- How did I not think to check there?
- HOW THE **** did my in-laws live in this leaky ass house for so long and let it get worse?
- 10/22 Blew HG…
- 3/23 Painted cruiser and that was not without drama.

It has been a tough year but I realize these are first world problems.

Actually, there’s even MORE that happened since we moved in, but the bottom line is, I retired to have more time with my family and I have yet to get that. It’s been nonstop. Time to make a change. The straw that broke my back is the ****ing cave under my home. I’m done. Anyway.

So what’s the point?

It took me a year to install sliders. If you recall the last time I was going to install them, I read the directions and it said something about notching brackets and I just left the s*** right there. I was too tired and demoralized to cut brackets and do work. Lmao.

Anyway, the instructions are wrong. No need to notch s***. I installed these bitches today in under an hour. NBD🤣

Gonna triple lock this bitch and drive her straight to Starbucks for a skinny tall frappe latte and a photo shoot.

And what about that cave under your house???

I'd be murdering my in-laws. You're a better man than me.
I decided to move. It’s the best thing for us.
And what about that cave under your house???
I hired a home inspector to come out next Wednesday. Fine tooth comb my entire house, give me an itemized list of non-negotiable items requiring fix and I’ll fix everything professionally and sell the house.
At least you have somewhere discreet for the in-law's bodies
I’d have to chop them up to fit their big asses through the small access door, then their blood will leak into my basement. Bad idea bro. Might be worth it though 🤣
