I have my little bottle. I’m terrified to send in my sample. Your good numbers give me courage….Looking good, except for the dirt stuff
G, just send it bro. It’ll feel good knowing. Or maybe not. It’s like an AIDS test…almost. Not really.Great updates Pell.

Sweet Aaron! I’m excited to see pics of it. How’s the 200 treating you? That thing is so sweet.Picked up a green '94 myself a few weeks ago. Your pm ocd is inspiring. Let me know when it's time to ship your wife's stateside.
You going to paint it again or leave it raw? What's up cruiser heads? Haven't done much to my whip lately but here are a few updates for the 1-2 of you who are up late mudding.

After the simple fuze box swap, I had to address my intermittent horns. First I took the horns off to inspect them. Not much to it, the harness looked fine, the brackets were clean, but one of the horns had some loose debris floating around inside. Maybe that was the culprit. Doubtful. Anyway, I had ordered new CT200H horns because they sound solid. I got them in, please see exhibit c&d:

But guess what? I still got no tones. Frustrated, I began researching. My turn signals worked, my hazards worked, so it wasn't the fuse. My horn relay was clicking when I smashed the middle of the steering wheel so it wasn't that....then I came upon a thread on mud that pointed me to this site: 80 Series Horn Replacement - https://tctmagazine.net/january-2015-volume-8-issue-1/80-series-horn-replacement BAM!
Lo and behold exhibit e:

Now I have some sweet-sounding horns that I can blare without recourse and feelings of embarrassment.
Oh yeah, I also did this to my old VC. It looked like ass with the wrinkle-black VHT paint. Not that the paint looks bad, it's me. I sucked at painting the VC. Now, just like my nightly sins under the covers, I can start fresh again tomorrow.
Ladies and gentlemen, please see exhibit f:

Looks like a sweet ride bro! Gotta love the simplicity of an 80, there’s something to it. Between driving my wife’s new Gen MDX and my 80, I state without hesitation I choose to drive my 80. The feedback and the way the cruiser drives is just more fun to me. Congrats on a new Cruiser!View attachment 2831403
Love the 200 but it doesn't compare to the 80. Simplicity wins with me. Congrats on finding ANOTHER one BTW, looks like it's in amazing shape
Couldn't agree with that more. I've had some other pretty attractive options to jump in to in my driveway over the years. The 80 definitely puts the biggest smile on my face.Looks like a sweet ride bro! Gotta love the simplicity of an 80, there’s something to it. You have a slightly different perspective since you’re pushing 100000hp with that vette engine pushing your ass in the back of your plush Scheel-MannsCouldn't agree with that more. Mike, you might be right about the skillbridge. I’m considering just a local mom and pop shop that I can get some hands on experience through. Cruiser-specialists are better but require me to live apart from the fam for a few months. Not a deal breaker and actually will be fun.I haven't checked in on anything "mud" in a while. I let my cruiser sit long enough to flat the battery, so there's that. Crongrats again Pell on the 97 if I didn't say that a while back. It looks like a good sample of the species.
As for your SB; you could become the "secret" hookup for Land Cruiser repairs at a non-Land Cruiser shop. I know one of those guys out here, the trouble is his boss will not let my 2k in oem parts through the door.
I sent my VAF off on 9 Oct and I got my refurbished VAFM back today. Took a while but they told me it's 15-30 business days for turnaround time. The packaging was adequate, not nearly as secure as I wrapped it but I channeled my inner PartSouq slave labor skills when I sent mine off. My overall impression is the VAF is very well sealed and neatly put back together. They sandblasted the exterior and I got some of the original patina back which pleases me. Here are the pictures:Me too, hope the cost is worthwhile. Here is the breakdown in more detail:
Bavarian Restoration Refurbishes Air Flow Meters using the following process:
1. AFM is heat tank soaked, ultra sonic cleaned, bead blasted clean, and clear coat painted.
2. Test intake air temperature sensor resistance over the heat range specified by Bosch.
3. Test AFM door spring tension and adjust accordingly to known Bosch specs.
4. Disassemble wiper arm and connector assembly. Clean incoming, and outgoing contacts and bend them to contact fresh material. Clean wiper arm contacts and primary grounding post. Adjust wiper arm to contact fresh material.
5. Reassemble wiper arm and connector. (all contacts touch fresh new material only!)
6. All mechanical pivot points are lubricated with liquid Teflon.
7. Measure voltage signal output with oscilloscope and adjust if necessary. We run a variety of tests including quality repeatability, linearity testing (or non linear for eta AFM's,) quality repeatability in the idle genre and the fully open genre. Every AFM is thoroughly tested over a variety of conditions.
8. Lid is sealed with silicone to ensure a moisture and water proof AFM.
9. Every successfully refurbished AFM will receive a quality control decal.
On the ground is fine. Just measure or mark the new to the old. Also, the clunk could come from bad joints at the front sway bar frame mounts...View attachment 2853585
I’ve had these for a couple months now but have been procrastinating. I definitely have a “clunk” upon takeoff and/or left turns and slowing down.
Any tricks of the trade before getting after this? Soaking in oil for weeks at this point.
Truck on the ground vs on jack stands? I assume do one at a time and try to keep the same number of threads turned/exposed. Anything else?
I measured my drag link and tie rod overall before disassembling and them matched the numbers. I was within 1/16 when I was done according to the alignment guys.View attachment 2853585
