Hey, I've got a 94' toyota pickup extended cab. Recently in the snow I've locked my hubs and got into 4 hi for city driving, recently as I've ben turning the truck has been jolting. My friend looked at it and said my rear wheels are spinning while my front two are barely moving. Any ideas?

Put it on jack stands and try to spin the front tires with hubs locked in. I'd also check the transfercase fuel and the front diff. Is the truck lifted at all?

That shouldn't affect that driveline angle to much then.

Stop turning on dry pavement in 4 wheel drive, there's just a natural binding that occurs.

I drive with my hubs locked in all winter. I shift in and out often as road conditions change. If the roads are dry, don't be in 4 hi and turn.

Just nature of the beast.

Something to consider. You have what is called an "open differential" in the front, and rear. It's possible for a tire not to spin, but the opposite side should. I know it sounds odd, but the tire with the most traction will receive the least power, and the tire with the least traction will receive all the power. In other words if you have the left tire on dry pavement, and the right on snow, the tire on snow will spin, and no power will go to the left tire. Same goes for the rear.

That is why we install lockers, or limited-slips, in our axles.

When you say "I locked my hubs" are you referring to manual locking hubs or auto? If not manual, is it an ADD front end? How does it react in 4lo?

they are manual hubs, 4 low still reacts. Ok well I'll look into the hubs and cv axles. it's very possible there's something there. I'll look into the lockers as well. Thank you!
