So, from being able to roll the drivers window up/down a couple inches safely now It wont respond at all. The switch is just dead. lol.

I knew it was going to get worse.......

Im getting the prices for new runs and when they come in I will have to take a look at the motor/gears/switches. Im hoping I can switch the rear ds gears to the front and maybe the motor as well if needed......

Still searching the board for information.

I did get my home style undercoating done today. Pulled all the plugs from previous uc's and soaked the crap out of it with Fluid Film. Used up 5 cans by the time I finished. Didnt even have to get underneath the van since I did the bottom a couple weeks back.

Went for a drive today and snapped a couple pictures. A little poser "flex" and a really nice view...

Thanks guys.

The tires are goodyear duratracks in a 285.

Got the price for all of the suspension bushings and ps/ds window runs. 241.86 CDN + tax! Cheaper than I thought it would be for sure.

Ooops. Price isnt that low........ Gonna be around 500$ dammit lol.

Went for the "last" bike ride of the year on sunday and snapped a pic of the bike beside the 80.

Good ride, snow was falling and it was slippery as hell but we had a blast.

My buddy Devin delivered the steel for my sliders today. 50 bucks for 24' of 1.5"x3"x1/8 cut into 8' lengths, not bad at all.

Im thinking weld on now since we are dealing with a beater. It would simplify things quite a bit and save a ton of time/fab work. Plate the frame, tack on outriggers w gussets, main slider tube (angled 1.5x3"...), then maybe some round tube to finish it off....

I just have to get motivated now, Its freaking cold outside!

Tires are doing great. Had some snow/slush/ice the other day and they did very well.

I decided to "install" (read bitch together) mud flaps today.

I wanted front flaps to keep the rocker and the bottom of the door clean in the winter while the rears are a very poorly executed attempt to avoid no flap tickets...... (couple of ppl I know got nipped recently).

Feel free to make fun, I know the rear flaps look stupid but they seem to do the trick. Ok, from the rear they look decent but from the side they look silly due to the angle I had to mount them at.

I wonder how long Ill be able to bear driving around like this.

lol

Didnt bother taking a picture of the front. Theyre just my taco front flaps screwed in place.

i admit i am a little jealous of the duratracs. worried about my firestones in the snow, gonna get them siped

Dang, I can't believe someone else thinks outside of the box! I had a very similar design idea for a tire carrier. However mine is going to be on a swing arm and the mounting will be a little different. Mine will round at the top instead of coming to a point. It will also go up a little further, and have a kind of skin welded to the back of it to clean it up a bit.
This gives me an idea of how it will look when it is all said and done! GREAT JOB!!! I love it!!! I love how simple you have kept it. I might do some tweaking to my design.
Here is a Sketch-up pic I did quite a while ago. The Tubing will of course be a lot thicker, on the pic you at least get the idea.

Haha, nice man! Its gonna look very sweet.

I finally started planning and cutting steel for my sliders today. I got the main slider tube cut/capped/ground and cut out 5 frame plates. The main slider is 1.5x3" 1/8 wall tube, the plates are 1/4".

I may attempt the outriggers/gussets tomorrow.

Got a little fancy with the frame plates lol.

top right one looks like a squidbilly

Very nice fab work, great road trip, and real wheelin spirit!

Got a good chunk of the ds slider done today. Positioned it on jack stands and measured/cut the outriggers. Tacked it together like that then finish welded it on the bench.

I hammered the rocker pinch weld where the riggers are at some point too. 3/4" clearance between the rocker and outrigger.

Managed to cut out a bunch of gussets to go between the frame plates and outriggers as well. The front and rear gussets extend from the frame plate, go the length of the outrigger, and touch the main slider tube. The other sides get triangles as does the middle outrigger. Only one welded in so far.

Thanks to Sam and Darren for stoppin by and helping. Special thanks to Sam for the tube he brought me for the kick out/outer slider...... But thats another story. Have a pretty cool plan for that.

To be continued tomorrow... if I feel up to it.

I like the double shear mounting support of the hinge. I remember before on Pirate, people were breaking the hinges, also due to small spindles/hinges and welding/heat and vibration problems. Supposedly double shear mounting would alleviate those problems for the DIY builder. I planned on using that style for more of a piece of mind.
