I'm curious if there is a "go-to" kit that any owners/shops have 1st hand experience with, and would not hesitate to use again?

kit might include; forged conn rods, pistons, maybe gapless rings

in addition, has anyone ever used the ACL extra oil clearance bearings? snake oil?

New short blocks are readily available from Toyota.

That’s what we do here because it’s pretty much impossible to beat new OEM.

One just landed yesterday, Sean.

New short block is best obviously but if you want to build your own I like to use the genuine Toyota pistons, you can tell that they are made different just looking at the texture on the bottom of them. There was an article about "vacuum casting" or something. I believe it. Tahlio bearings and Nippon rings are good, I'm interested in the gapless rings you can special order them direct from total seal, I decided against it on my build. I've never built and engine from a kit. Stock rods are forged already, if your going to go real big power one of the aftermarket ones could be stronger.
