Hey all, I'm usually in the 60 section, and looking for a little advice. Working on buddies 91 v6 4x4 pickup, clutch and starter replace. Tranny is out and can't get the darnflarn starter out. Twisted turned rotated pushed pulled, won't come out. I had an 89 fourrunner that I replaced the starter with no problem. What am I messing up on this one. Any tricks?????

It comes out through the fender well... there is an access hatch that comes off, and you have to twist, turn, and hold your mouth right...

Yeah he did, plus if it was a 22RE he wouldn't be asking how to get it out, he'd just take it out....

I am blind and missed the part saying "V6". 
Still, it could've been a 5vz?
Anyhow, throw on a 1" body lift and it gets even easier to take out as well as get to the top trans bolts.
I don't need to see a Vortec, I had two in different vehicles in my life, a 5.3 in a 90's p/u or Runner's just redonkulously overpowered. Sweet, but redonkulous.
Still, it could've been a 5vz?

When i did replace my starter on my truck i decided to drop the front diff. in the front just enough for me to slide the starter out towards the front.i don't know if i have that access panel they are taliking about on my truck but my 4runner did have a removable panel.good luck Trey hope you got it out with less French words LOL.

Trey, you need to get a truck or 4runner for a daily driver just my 2 cents.

I have a 1989 Toyota 4 wheel Drive with the 3.0 that I need to change the starter on. I looked at it a few days ago. I had been wondering what I had missed. The search led me here.
Anyone have any information that would help me along? I'm sure open to suggestions.
