88 Pickup 5 Speed Popping out of gear

My 88 pickup with 22re and 5 speed started popping out of 4th gear last week. Tried replacing the shifter seat and bushing but did not fix the problem. Any other things to try or does it look like time to rebuild or replace the trans?
Anyone every go from manual to auto trans?

Sounds like the tranny needs some in depth TLC. Manual to auto has been done most got the other way. You'll be wanting to regear if you do.

Ya, most people ditch the auto and put in the 5-speed.

My 85 was doing the same thing. Bit the bullet about 2 years ago and had Marlin Crawler rebuild it. Did the xfer case at the same time. Love the way it drives now, but I'm a manual trans lover anyway. Oh and I wouldn't swap to an auto... you think our trucks are slow now...
