Sweet. What shop in Franklin???

Me

Trans Specialty, a friend's transmission shop that I weasel my way into when he is not to busy.

Finished up the gears and Detroit Lockers just have to reassemble the rear axle. Plan on reassembling the front after all the welding. It took use three wrenches and a home made jig to get the rear crush sleeve set. Four attempts and all our shims to get the front gear mesh set but it is all set right thanks to some friendly guidance.

Decided not to get the TSL SX's because I found some 35x14.50x18 Irocs on some polished wheels for about the same price. Picked them up today and pretty happy with them they have some stress marks but nothing to bad. I hope the wider tire helps with my high center of gravity now.

New parts are always nice. Yep setting up gears is fun. Are you going to do anything special to break in the new gears ?

Nothing special just heat them up, cool them down several times , and put about 500 miles on them before I strain them to bad. I was going to try riding around with my front hubs locked to warm up the front. That way I do not have to ride around in 4wheel drive all the time. Is there some special way to break them in? I would be truly grateful for all the advise I can get.

Nice work John :clap:Did you and Albert start the tear down for the SAS? :)

No Sir, the real work will begin tomorrow at Albert's friend's shop. Plan on having the work done by Friday if all goes well, with Albert's know how and skills I think it should all be good. If anyone would like to stop by and check things out just give us a call for directions. I am pretty excited to say the least.

Good to hear John, if you are still working in the evenings I'll pass by one day. Trying to catch up today. :)

Updates and pics sitting on the new rubber :bounce::bounce::bounce:

I'm sure John has pictures to post up just sitting enjoying a evening knowing i don't have to clean no more metal shaving from my body while showering . We cut a lot of stuff off. There is not one sharp edge no where on this truck, we used a flapper wheels on everything that was welded on. All the new parts are good quailty and thick metal. It turned out nice ,nicer than my truck is built.

I don't know how hot it was the last three days but John I'm sitting enjoying  while typing while I hope you are . Later Albert

John passed by the office this a.m. with the Toy on the trailer. Some impressive work John & Albert. Its makes the 35's look tiny. Here are a few snaps with the office camera. Can't wait to see it on the trail.

Wow!

Sweet.

What shoes will it get in the end??

me

Sure is, I fell like I was on Overhaulin or Pimp My Ride and Albert was Chip Foose. I have to install the drive shafts, finish up the hubs, trim down the U-bolts, and put some 6'' shackle plates in the rear. I hope I have time to finish when I get in, before the weekend of the 4th. I will try to add pictures and storyline when I get some time home.
