@aztoyman, sweet! I’m going to pick some of that up and hope it fixes my issues. If not the heater core and fan are coming back out for a full refoam.

I'm pretty pissed off right now. I had ordered my Mickey Thompson Baja Boss X stickies from Amazon and got all 4 of them just fine on 3 separate orders. I brought up the same order and added ANOTHER OF THE SAME to my cart and confirmed the part number. UPS just dropped off my tire and I noticed there was no Sticky Mickey decals on the tire. Sure enough I received the DOT compound tire. I brought up my current invoice and it shows this tire on my order. NOT what I clicked on. I'm really going to be pissed if they make me pay freight back. 🤬

I avoid Amazon like the plague.
Looks like your getting close, Wheeling in 2025 ?

I decided to beef up my front cross member. It's thicker than the original but still only .120 wall and I need to hang a winch and bumper on it. I just cut some 1/4" flat bar and made a brace similar to the ones for sale online. I put the piece across the front, and also added one for the bottom so I can drill and tap it for counter sunk bolts. I plan to be able to bolt the bumper/winch mount to the front and bottom of the frame.

The original bolts on my 88 are 10mm with a couple 12mm. I drilled and tapped all these holes to M12 X 1.25.

The two small struts that stick up on the OEM cross member are sheet metal. I made these with 3/16" with a grade 10.9 flanged nut welded on the back and splayed the side gussets out. I didn't want to pull the radiator to weld the backside so I beveled the edges to a razor thin root face before welding from the front side.

I picked up some 1/4" plate today so I can fabricate a winch mount. I'm thinking 1 3/4" x .120 wall tube tied into it. :hmm: I like the look of Mudder's new bumper. The one I made for my 88 is pretty nice but it's heavy.

My shoulder is still quite the handicap. I regained a lot of range of motion but it's still really weak. I have to be careful working with this steel.

I did end up finishing the cross member brace and got started on the winch mount.

I had to dig into my scrap bin to build a poor man's Mag-Drill. AND a tap guide! 😜 Hey it worked. I got straight holes.

I came up with a tentative winch mount. I got the winch positioned about where it was on my 88. I'm basing that on the cut out grill. The bottom is kind of a tapered skid plate.

I could tuck it in a little closer. Only an inch and a half. And that would require me to eliminate or modify the hood latch and the A/C liquid line so I'm not going to bother.

I'll wait for my corner lights to get here so I can decide if I want to go ahead with the tube "wings" to protect the corners. I still haven't really made up my mind. I still have the option of putting the bumper off the 88 on.

I like this one, but It's kinda heavy and I tweaked it a bit at Sand Hollow.
The outer sections are 1/8" and one bent a bit. I think 3/16" would be too heavy.

Either way I need to have the upper tube loop to mainly protect my radiator if I back flip. The light mount is just a bonus.
Back flips are not allowed :p
