After many years and many miles of road tripping it’s time for our well loved adventure-mobile to move on to a new owner.
The good:
-strong running 6 cylinder 2H Diesel engine, rebuilt by a previous owner. 24 volt starter (recently rebuilt) and glow plugs fires it immediately, even in the depth of winter
-rebuilt auto transmission (receipt to prove)
-rebuilt transfer case (receipt to prove)
-brand new (2019) Old Man Emu medium rate springs front and rear with new sway bar isolators and extended links ($2200 in parts)
-brand new (2019) long stroke shocks, front and rear ($600)
-brand new front calipers (2019)
-rebalanced driveshaft (2017)
-rad recore (2017)
-most receipts for past service history and parts
-summer steel 16” rims and tires
-stock 15” rims and snow tires
-dark tinted rear windows
-high output LED headlights
The challenges:
-typical body rust, the beginnings of frame rust in a couple of places
-failing clear-coat from years ago repaint
-lots of (mostly highway) miles on the rebuilt engine.
-lots of typical oil leaks from tired engine seals and gaskets
-when the transmission (A440) was rebuilt the oil pump was not replaced. It needs one now (the tranny still shifts crisply through every gear, but the pump is whining)
