..side tie in mougta...

*"mounts" maybe?? Gotta love small keyboards?? That or it's how you say "Beer Holders" in Japanese? :D I like my idea best, mmm, beer holders w/ a TEQ logo.. (*Had to.)

Agreed on the 1/4 stock for marlin bumpers, but they are tied in via top and bottom, with multiple intersections, thus little chance of deflection.

You thought of doing some sliders also, square stock turned @ 30-45deg to give a deflecting angle?

I got pictures now :)

added some corner gussets

And some random finished pictures. I am going to be trimming the rear fenders when I have more time, and cut the ends of the bumper to match.

Odie had Scratch make those brackets for his truck, he had copied the brackets off Hogans bumper. After he got the brackets, he forgot to alter them for his 2" body lift. I ended up tossing Odie $20 for the brackets, and having Scratch cut the bumper mounts for me. He charged me $26 for all 4 brackets.

*Something to keep in mind if you do go with tie-in hoops for the front ears is that (in my case w/ my Marlin rear bumper and also a couple of others') is it makes mounting the bumper frustrating as all get out. You need to prybar the rear and the hoops up around the body mount at the same time, I can get a pic for reference if you don't understand. One false slip and I had a really nice half thumb blood-blister to show off for a few weeks. Give yourself some flexibility and ovalize your mount holes a little, that way if you ever need to remove, adjust, whatever it'll be a little easier.

I finally started trimming the rear fenders, I still have to patch a few rust spots and fill in some gaps with sheet metal. The fronts are next, still deciding how I want to tank them.

I also finally got a real camera again :bounce:

A few months ago my old Canon digital rebel 300D gave up the ghost on me :crybaby: And canon wanted at least $200 to fix it, they could not give me a solid number over the phone. So I opted to do the surgery my self. Early in the operation I busted a tab for one of the ribbons... I moved on, hoping it would not be a problem. After I put her all back together, things were much worse then before

So I was stuck with my point and shoot panasonic, putting all the play money into the 4Runner. Well the other day I scooped out craigslist for Canon 10D's and found one for $325  I meet the guy today, and took it home for $300 with the kit lens. Its in great shape, and now I have 4 batterys for the thing.

So here are some more recent pics

Sliders are coming up next, few people in our club want to go wheeling in a couple weeks. Tossed something together in solidworks as a rough plan, I might tweak it a little more before I build the sliders.

Picking up the tubing this weekend when I have a chance to stop by the steel yard.

Sliders are finished, other then capping the ends off.

I am going to work on the side braces for the rear bumper this week, and taking the truck wheeling next weekend.

Quick little update... I cut some half doors for it and braced the sides of the rear bumper. Went wheeling twice, truck works great even with stock gearing and open diffs front and rear. Here are a few pics from the second wheeling trip.

Thanks :)

I need to take some more recent pictures, with the new tires, cut fenders, and cross over steering installed now. Also working on upgrading the front brakes.

For the rear springs, might try to make a set of springs a friend of mine has sitting in his garage work. He isn't sure what springs they are, might be 5" all pro springs? So I might need to take a leaf out of the pack to bring them down a bit.

Here is a someone recent picture, with certi-fit fenders. I ended up putting the old fenders back on and trimming them for now. I will go back to the certi-fit fenders once I am ready to repaint the entire truck.

Upgraded my brakes this weekend, and did some front axle maintenance while I was tearing into the axle. The axle seals were shot, so I picked up some Marlin HD seals and their install tool. When I pulled the birfs, I was a little shocked to find that the leaking oil had washed out all of the grease.

Had some trouble trying to bleed the brakes last night, so will have to try it again today when I feel like going out into the garage. If I stab the pedal I get good pressure, but if I slowly get on the pedal it just drops to the floor. I must still have air in the system some where.

Here is one of the backing plates cut down

I also scored a E-locker with 4.30 gears for $75. It was pulled out of a 4runner with 55k on it cause it was making a whining noise, backlash loosened up. I will install 4.88's in it some where down the road, then install it up front. I'll put a lunchbox locker in the rear.

And I have a set of Marlin 4.7 gears on the way, picked up their older design from the classifieds. Brand new gears, just not the HD design.

Little update...

Installed my Marlin 4.7 gears, they actually were the XD gears too :p

I ordered a Spartan locker for the rear, and installed it over the weekend. Very impressed with the design, and the fact that they include a new cross pin.

Here are the pins for the locker

And here is what those slots are for, and the long pins.

And installed

I also installed my rear disc brakes over the weekend. I used front 85 calipers and rotors. I also went with a GM 3/4 ton master cylinder, as that is what the guy I got the brackets from recommended for this setup. And I installed a summit racing manual proportioning valve for the rear brakes.

Here are some pictures of the brakes installed.

I have my 30 spline longfields and e-locker waiting to be installed.

And I just ordered rear spring and shackle hangers, 5" shackles all around, a MC07, dual case crossmember, and some parts to start a front bumper.
