At yesterday's Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction, a restored 1983 Toyota SR5 4x4 pickup sold for $50,000, plus 10% fees. I'm not sure, but this must be a new high sale price for ANY pre-'84 Toyota truck. The truck has power steering, air conditioning and a tilt wheel. Engine and interior appear totally stock. WOW!

Here's a link to the info on the truck: - Barrett-Jackson Auction Company - World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions

I saw this on YotaTech.

All I can say is.... WOW!

Maybe the value of my truck doubled overnight!

:wrench:

Quotes made someplace else.

"Now every tool with half a beater is going to want 15k for a turd."

"I can see the ad now 22R doesn't run frame is rotted box missing 15k I know what these go for."

"The bed must be full of rare and highly sought after beanie babies."

Too much money. It looks nice but if I were to spend that much I'd want it 100% stock. Not a lift and bigger tires with probably stock gearing.

It is really amazing to me what these mini trucks sell for. I went to last years auction and there was an 86 4runner and pickup that sold in the mid 20s I believe. I agree to get that much money I would want it 100 percent stock original. There was an 86 pickup with 44k miles carbed that sold for 20k yesterday too.

It’s nuts but after selling my 80 series and researching pickups I found that it wasn’t unusual for the pickups to sell for almost the same price now! The other thing is that I get more thumbs up and compliments on my truck than any other car I’ve driven... drives my wife crazy because the paint is faded out and she’s embarrassed to be seen in it

I happened to be up front at the auction. I recorded the end on my phone. The one before it was older and went for twenty some thousand.
I had never been to a major auto auction. I was in Vegas with my daughter for a trade show.
All the manufacturers were there. When drifting in a Deamon for a few minutes.
A guy here (Fairbanks Alaska) has a 87 truck truck with 47,000 miles for sale I thought he was crazy for asking $7000. I am having second thoughts.

I will try to post this compressed video.
I watch the auctions from time to time and was surprised at how high the prices were. I wonder if some of these crazy prices are paid by guys that had one or wanted one when they were younger and now have more money than dirt.
