So i had a pretty good Christmas week. 12/23 I lost control in my Tundra while traveling too fast in the mud down Mule Canyon in Calico and smashed the front end into the canyon wall... $4800 in damage.

Christmas Eve I was driving the 80 cause the Tundra was smashed and a woman in a Mitsu Lancer ran a left arrow red right in front of me while I was traveling 50-55 on hwy 76. Slammed on the brakes as I entered the intersection but you can't exactly stop an 80 from 50MPH in 30ft. I tried turning away but still caught the passeger rear spinning her around and totaling the car. Luckily there was a witness that came forward to support my story of her running the red. Her insurance company has accepted 100% liability for the accident with the damage estimate at $3400 for the 80.

My thought is I may ask for a check from the insurance company and just order replacement body panels from Cruiser Parts and prob get the entire truck repainted. Thinking maybe a satin/low shine/low maint desert sand or black. Should still have cash left over since the parts and shipping come out to about $1000. Dont need the highest end paint job since the truck gets beat up anyway and can prob get away with $1000-$1500.

As you can see, the DO front bumper took the hit pretty good. Only scuffed the powder coat.

THAT... is a bummer.

Damage up that high is from a Lancer?

Sounds like you've got a decent plan to improve your situation. G'luck with all that and post up pics along the way, I'd like to paint mine similarly.

Dan.

Sorry to hear that. It looks like more than $3500 to me. This damage was estimated at $3500, and that is replacing the ARB with a factory bumper:

Negotiate the oem factory bumper price with that of a new ARB. They can't be too far apart price wise!

Glad you are ok.
But wondering if that bender affected the frame up front.

The shop checked out everything and said there is no structual damage.

And here is the $4800 in damage to the Tundra:

Doh........I have been seeing alot of 80's totaled and for salvage auction for collisions like that..............

Just received a call from her insurance carrier and they will be sending me a check for $3488. Just sent email to Cruiser Parts to get a quote on all the parts I need.

Gkad you are ok. Sorry to hear about both vehicles :frown:

Sorry to see this! :(

Should all end up ok. Give me a project to work on and be able to repaint the entire truck. There should also be some left over to cover the $500 deductable on the Tundra.

Looks like I will be picking up all the parts from Spector Offroad this week so I can start the repairs. All for just under $900.

Picked up the parts and completed the teardown:

Well, got all the new parts and it's now sitting over at the painter getting some cosmetic surgery.
