Love my 80 Series. Recently it has been occasionally stalling when on petrol. Sometimes get the check engine light on petrol(possibly due to misfiring). Sometimes it clears by itself . Can start the car cold and drive a kilometer before it stalls at the top corner. Once warm it stutters a bit on the highway. No problems at all on LPG.
I thought of bad petrol so disconnected the "return to tank" line from vac valve front of the injectors fuel rail and piped it into a bottle. Fuel is not contaminated, but to my surprise there were regular bubbles coming out of the return to tank valve into the bottle. Is this a dodgy fuel pump? (electric or mechanical). There are no fuel leaks and the problem occurs on a full tank or empty tank. At this stage I have not tested the pressure of the fuel pump. Hesitant to drop the tank and throw in a $100 fuel pump without being certain. Any suggestions are appreciated.
