Paul I sent you a PM last Friday about some LED install questions for two rear domes that aren't lighting up.

Thanks
Topher

I sent a similar message to Paul and have not received a response. I can see he is pretty active today in the 100 forum.

There are some that have the red and black wires reversed so they do not work when you first plug them in. I have the Pos and Neg identified at the done light and I put the plug in correctly but as I stated they are not all the same.

I am waiting a response from Paul as well. Keep us posted if you hear back from him.

Ridiculous question here but, how do you remove the door light covers? I just didnt want to pry hard and break anything. Doesn't seem to be the notch like the dome lights. Do you pry between the clear lens and the outer carrier, or between the door material and the outer carrier/seal?

Thanks

PFRAN,

What are your shipping times looking like right now? Just a day over two weeks now, just checking.

Yes pry between the plastic lens and the outer plastic piece. The whole thing will come out as another two piece unit. Then pry the clears lens cover off of that. Pretty straight forwar once you get it out. It's pretty durable.

The only issue I had with one of the lights was that it was flickering. It turned out that it was the wire inside the metal end cap that makes contact.
The cap comes off easy. I had to strip more insulation off the wire and re-lay it across the plastic piece (that's underneath the metal cap) then put the metal cap back on.

Now I can leave the doors open for a long time without worrying about draining the battery because the dome and door lights are on! Very nice!

UPDATE - Those of you who cannot get anything to light up at all and think you have a DOA, I can just refund you. The way these boards are designed, you can lose banks of lights but not the whole thing. Some customers are having issues figuring out the connector install part and I'd rather just refund money to those people. I had one 20+ email chain with one person trying to help them with their connector and they eventuallly sent it back. I popped it into my truck and it worked.

Sanchez - issue resolved. More to come to today as time allows.

Hey PFRAN,

Got your LED kit today and was excited. But got home only to find out that all of the door LEDs are all too thin to stay in it's holder. I noticed it right away but figured I'd give it a shot. Installed them, worked. Nice and bright. Went to pick up dinner, down two driveways and down the street. Came home and opened the door. No light. Opened the rear door. No light. Opened passenger door, no light. Passenger rear, hey that one works. Ugh. Opened them all up and the three had popped out. Not quite sure how to make them stay. I will mull it over. Haven't done the map lights yet. Kinda worried to be honest.

Well it looks like it's just a matter of sticking in a small screwdriver behind each of the contacts and prying them inward to grip the thinner bulbs.

You are the first 80 owner to report this. Maybe some of the 80s owners can lend some advice. Did you fully seat them?

PFRAN let me first say that your PM to me was a little off putting. I brought up an issue because I expect things to work they way they are supposed to. If things don't work I report on them, usually with a fix right behind. As far as being scared of installing these, my 5000+ posts and electrical knowledge prevent me from being "scared" of a few LEDs. What worried me is the fact that these don't seat properly without first modifying the holders they are in. The fact that three popped out was a sure sign. So they didn't work as expected and needed modification, don't get all butt hurt because someone posts something negative. It happens to the better of us.

Speaking of which....

The dome lights are complete junk. Anyone who has ever spent a minute doing anything electrical will laugh as wildly as I did when I took of the caps. Really, no solder!?!?!

With great sadness I took out George's map lights and installed yours. Although I appreciate the extra light yours offer over his, I have to say the quality between the two are light years apart.

I got what I paid for and they work as advertised. I will use them til they stop working and then I will just put George's back in. I don't need a refund but thank you for offering.

For those interested, the units on the right are George's. The one on the left is PFRANs.

This is nothing against PFRAN or an attack on him. This is just my opinion which I am entitled to.

Thanks for keeping this in a PM. You yourself stated that you were scared to instal the domes (in this thread).

This kit is not competition to George's LEDs. Completely different pricepoint.

My PM was not intented to put you off. It was to ask you to try the PM route first before posting negatively slanted posts in this thread. 1 negative post equals About 20 positive ones and impacts my sales.

Also thanks for stating that these are complete junk. Mine have been working flawlessly since day one and I saved over $300.00 over what 16 LEDs would have cost me via big box vendors.

No hard feelings as I was bound to encounter a few customers sharing your perspective. Regardless of what you choose to do with the bulbs, I am issuing you a full refund. Mud is a tight community and I'd like to keep it that way.

Also...I have addressed EVERY issue that I have been contacted about. This has included giving out free kits, replacements, and covering all additional shipping costs.

All in all, I want anyone who purchases this kit to feel like they got their money's worth. If you feel like you got what you paid for then please don't reflect that by commenting negatively. If this kit cost like $150.00 or so then you have a lot more room to pick apart every minute detail. Like I said, it is all about the pricepoint.

Sorry if I have offended you (or anyone for that matter). Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Cheers!

Thanks Pfran, I'm very happy with the product and price point besides a few leds out on 2 of the 4 boards which you've made good on I'm happy with the product. I also appreciate your timely responses and you taking the time to offer this to the community. Any adventure of this sort is going to have a few things to work out its to be expected.

Shipped replacements with the better soldered LEDs to Volunteer.

Also shipped to:
WarEagle
JCheung

I am pretty sure as of tonight, I have the bad 3 LED row issue solved. The supplier's latest batch all have way beefier soldered connections. I have also been inspecting and testing the panels before shipping. There might be a few more stragglers reporting this issue (from previous shipments) but as of today the issue should be corrected.

Edit...I have also sent NLXTACY 3 additional 48 LED panels (on my dime), with the beefier solders. I hope he can say that he ran these for a very long time!

Finally installed. Took about 15 mins. Had to resolder the map light adapter, but simple. All in all happy at the price point and service provided.

PS: they look great!
