I should add that when I say "have the rust spot fixed" I know Mark would have it fixed right and there would be no need to say anything more about it. I was not trying to encourage dishonest dealing in any way. Again, I know Mark is above that.

Mike please buy marks 80!!

Keep it in the family!

You won't be dissappointed, obviously.

I know I am going to get hazed for this but, it is a 1985 LR Defender 110 300 TDi (right hand drive) and my tentative plan is to buy it and send it to East Coast Rovers and have them turn it into a G4 Defender.

Although the wife made a tough pitch tonight basically equating the 80 to being our family car, since it is the only car we did not sell when we moved to Hong Kong and we have had it since we've been married.

Tough, tough decision...have to sleep on it and do some more praying and talk to the wife further.

I don't do gadgets and the OG M5 goes to paint next week. I hope to have it finished for the August CottonLand Dinner meeting. I am having a problem with the dash (some of the leather has pulled up) and Memphis MotorWerks is very concerned that it is going to continue to pull....and of course the seller is not responding to my emails, calls, etc.

None the less...in the grand scheme of things...I think we are all blessed to be worrying about cars, trips to Moab, pool finishes, etc. when there are a ton of folks out there hurting in this economy. Count your blessings tonight, we are all very fortunate and fortunate to have a close knit group.

Cheers.

That will buff right out...

Save your money and buy Gary's Rover he has for sale. I think $100,000 will get it and by the time you dick with buying this one (RHD) and having a shop like East Coast Rovers modify it, you will be in the same range...and you will still have all the LR wiring....and you will not have the coolest Rover on the planet because Gary will still have it. Hell, you can probably work a trade with yours since he is a Cruiser guy and knows them and the market.

True...dat

The "free" deals are not valid to the whole vehicle...sorry Mike.

Randi still thinks I should keep the 80...she thinks the 110 is "ridiculous"and her best quote this morning..."if you sell your 80 you will be pissed."

It looks like I will be keeping the 80...

I got the belts on...I never noticed that the 80 has 2 redundant belts. This one only had one

Replaced the belts....replaced the crappy double post spark plugs and autolite cap/wires, and pulled the carpet and pressure washed it. Put an new PCV on it and fixed a couple of random vacuum hoses.

If it is not purring like a kitten tomorrow, I will get O2 sensors. Those look like fun to change.

The carpet is permanently stained unfortunately. I scrubbed and scrubbed but there will be dark spots. It is clean as hell though :D Taking the carpet out of an 80 is not too bad. Putting it back in is going to be a bitch though. Tucking all that crap up in there.

I removed the damage multipliers and the alarm system as I don't have a remote for it. Interior is excellent on this truck.

Tomorrow I will do the fuel filter, thermostat, and all the fluids but the tranny. I am going to dump some Lucas in that and call it good. The fluid looks and smells great.

The joints and shafts took a ton of grease and the underside muddy. I may lift it up with the track hoe and pressure wash it all. May not.
