The old guy that has had me keeping his POS 80 running over the last few years just sold it to a local salvage yard for $300. No telling how many free parts I put on that thing over the years and he never even gave me a shot at buying my parts back. I hate people...

Damn Bossman. That flat sux.

The 80 gotba little love today. A new lab rak attic installed along with the new witts end ash tray replacement. It has three carling switch slots and two ram ball mounts. Didn’t have time to install the switches, but I like it.

I’ve started looking for speaker replacements for my 97 and there are threads all over the place but they are old and often require a lot of modification. Has anybody swapped out speakers lately in a later 80 and willing to share what they used? Would like to keep stock grills but willing to lose them if needed.

I did this a while back when I installed a new head unit, but I went with these below. They were on one of the threads. Sound fine to me and fit in stock location with Zero modifications. I went ahead and ditched the amp and put new GPS headunit in with car play when I did this. I recommend them.

Thanks @Dustin Messina
Did you do 6.5 front, 4 rear, and 3.5 dash?

I’ve got to get the panel off to do a bad rear door lock actuator so figured I’d do the speakers while I had the panel off. Did you have to do any spacers?

Correct. No these are direct drop in replacements that fit behind grill sndbckear windiw.

And clear window*

Selling my Delta Vehicle Ststem 80 attic setup. The brackets are $54 bucks then you have to source the rack. It worked well and pretty cheap for all the extra storage. $60 bucks local pickup only in Brandon. Think I paid $60 just for the shelf.

Is that just hog wire?

Found the right size on amazon. It’s like the storage shelf material. So, yeah basically.

This is a sneak peak of what I’m putting into mine. It is not bolt in but should yield excellent results. I’m ditching the radio completely and will run the entire system off of my phone via iSimple lightning to rca adaptor or via Bluetooth directly to the Kappa K4 amplifier 4 channel amp. In the front doors are Kappa Perfect 5.25 woofer/ tweeter and Kappa Perfect 300m 3.5” in dash location. This will be ran as a 3-way set up and should be extremely accurate off the front 2 channels of the K4. The rear 2 channels will power the Kappa 6x9’s in the rear doors. These may turn out to be too much so may be just temporary. Master volume will be controlled by the AudioControl LC8i. An Infinity Kappa K1000 powers the 3 JL Audio 12w3v2’s. The subwoofer install is temporary and a false floor/drawer system will house them in the future. The amps will end up behind the passenger rear interior panel. Not pictured is 120sq/ft of Noico that will be installed on all interior surfaces. A new carpet kit (thanks again @dnp) and a faux suade headliner will round off the interior. Would already be almost done with the install but the 4L80 trans in the truck took a crap and it is currently not driveable.

Sucks about the trans. Too much power?
