Welcome Dave!

Lash brings up a valud point about the part time kit.
Definitely a good time to put in a part time kit. Especially if ya plan to run long fields chromo Birfs & front axleshafts in the future. Other benefits a supposed mpg increase. If ya damage ya front driveshaft can pull it and just run it. ( yes ya can do the same thing with the center diff switch mod).

Cons
Ya have to get out your truck to lock your front hubs to engage AWD. ( this is the 80 thread ; p)
Going from flanges to hubs ( a negative when it comes to strength IMHO)

Just to name some things off the top of my head

All depends on the intended purpose of your 80 though

Hi guys
I ended up pulling vc last night. I finally did the one wheel check w/ trn n trans in neutral and when I lifted one wheel it had enought torque to leave a nice black skid mark on concrete. Since I generally drive with a lead foot I new something was going to break sooner than later. I may do a part time kit or just put in a good vc once I sort everything out on truck. After working on American cars I forgot how well these toyotas we're built!
Thanks
Dave

If ya haven't already Check your flange bolts front rear. When i sheared the my front ones i thought it was the tcase or the front diff. I ended up shearing the rear driver side a week later. I thought i had tranny issues since the 80 would roll while in Park.

This 40th is on Lakeland at the small car lot next to Primos Restaurant.

Didn't spend much time looking at it, but here's what I saw:

  • Truck was shiny (due to the age, I would have to guess a repaint), but the hood/top were faded. Would need paint in those places
  • No lockers
  • Customary split front driver's seat
  • Truck seems to sit up a little, so it may have a small lift
  • 285 Terra Grapplers with a few miles left
  • Rear bumper caps in bad shape (easy to find)
  • Overall, the truck is pretty straight
203,XXX miles.

I got the impression the guy would take around $5K for it in as-is condition.

For what all this is worth.......................

$8500?

Glad I held out. I started this thread, maybe it's time.

Awww Shiite here we go again ... Maybe you will end up with a 55 this time

; )

Can't wait to see it.....if you bow out please give me the heads up. I am getting closer to wanting another.

It's really nice. I got first refusal. Would have to sell 80 but I'm not giving it away. It's about as good as they get.

^Take that Birfday boy! That's one on tour 56 spankings!

; p
